  • I am rebuilding my 70's 5 speed Falcon sirrocco. gonna be updating the handlebar unit, with profile desing airwing base bars, with tektro brakes. i am still waiting to order a 50 or 49T Crank, and 57mm drop brakes.

over the year i have adapted weinmann rims, i know they're not as up to date, but hey there are the only replacement to my 27 x 1/4 wheels, and selle italia saddle.

currently i m looking for a 5 speed simplex derailliure.

Is that last picture in Cambridge?

  • shame Campag don't do Centaur anymore.

  • shame Campag don't do Centaur anymore.

    Centaur was so 2008, Ed...

  • If you are running Sugino 75s, Phils and an Izumi Super Toughness then you need a top notch BB. Centaur is good, but there is no point on having such an expensive chain if the BB isn't top of the game. Go Phil. The BB is better then the hubs.

I see that you're talking about how to get the most out of those high quality track components, but for a fixed wheel road bike a mid to high range Campag BB will do the trick more than well enough.

  • My current project, hope to finish it as soon as possible.

    Aero headtube pr0n... :o

  • Looking forward to see that Re Re Rello And The Crowd Said Bo Pina-lector built up

I just don't see the point. For me the drive is all one unit and it should all be of the same quality. Its only as good as the weakest part.

Needs some Paul cranks... And a cock piercing...

Good point. I think I'm only defending the Centaur as I'm using one with Phils and SG75s and I've quite liked it. It is reaching the end of its life though... so I'll probably be getting that Phil I've wanted for the past couple of years...

  • Centaur is an awesome BB... Ignore Harry, he gets BLB/hipster interface discount...

  • love that rello

  • Cool 'rello.

Don't be a twat max, leave that too hoops.

Due to the stupidity of hoops calling his a 'Pinar', everytime I see a Pinarello, I kept reading it as "pinata 'rello".

haha.. so good!... i needed a good laugh.

    you guys rule.

as long each part work perfectly well in unison with each other, it doesn't matter.

I have a sporadic mix of component, Campag BB, Miche crankset, Phils hubs and cog, but everything's work.

I would love a full Phils groupset (with Campag record crank), but obviously it'll be ridiculously expensive for a bicycle.

  • P.S...

Fiddy refered to his Pinerello as Pinar.

so i shall be saying pinar for ever more in his name..... and because it pisses Tim off.

imagine if Phils embarked on gears too ! i can't imagine the cost, or the point come to think of it.

  • When you wish upon a star... Etc...

  • A Phil Wood Rohloff.

    that'd be insane.

@ Rob - I think he meant the idea of a phil wood gruppo.

  • Yeah, Rob... Shut the fuck up...

  • good effort tho

  • Nah...

I'm using Phil hubs, Campag Pista cranks and a Centaur BB - it's run perfectly well for many hundreds of miles. Saying that Centaur is a weak link is nonsense, it's a nice bit of kit.

  • Harry's on a straight commission from the boys in San José... Betcha...
