In sharp contrast ^^^... New build's coming along, should be ready to roll by the weekend... All the components are old, free, cheap eBay/LFGSS bits... Apart from a new BB, chain, chainring bolts and a 19t cog (and the paint), that's it... BTW The white Ourys are a joke, I've got some old black ones that'll go on for now... The FunBikeā¢ is nearly finished, haven't decided if I'm gonna put a brake on yet...
kl poster... frame looks ok

just "finished this"
De rosa track bike 1981, raced by danny clark in 81/82. it is confirmed that he took the bike to the 1981 world keirin championships and a number of other events (not sure which events where won on it yet), i have got almost all the history but still in the process of completing. Anyway I am one happy bunny.
spec:
Frame and forks built from columbus tubing
campa record pista chrome headset, bb and seat post.
cinelli stem and bars
dura ace chainset and hubs
olimpic track pedalsdura ace chainset and hubs
bike is original apart from saddle and bartape. Itis currently on its training wheels with normandy hubs, i am restoring the dura ace wheels at the moment (never seen the hubs before they look a bit like sheriffstars).
YouTube- 1982 Track World Keirin Final. Singleton v Clark
forgot to mention, it is also one of the first de rosa track bikes ever made, when ugo de rosa was still working from his shed.

@Mr C
in the B&W photo I'm surprised by the handlebar they use on the track, it looks like road handlebars with a long flat at the top. Is that common to use such handlebars on the track ? -

Very very nice ^
And great that you know the history of it all.
Are those bars cinelli pista? or criterium
-
• #19281
yep these bars seem to be common, a lot of track bikes run for example criterium bars (like on the de rosa) which are kind of suited for both, track and road. It all depends on your riding style and kind of race. The "normal" bars give you more control but not the areodynamical postion of the deep drops.

Ok cool, i don't mind holding the bars for you for a few days if you definetly want them.
It would be great to see it "in the flesh" but would you ride it brakless and in that big gear? -

@ recycled: na, i am gonna go down to 48/17 which gives me a 74.7, that should be manageable

My Eastern bloc Record track bike. Planning to get a respray this winter, Black with red stars or hammer and sickle? or raw with clearcoat one things for certain the matching tyres will have to go
The finish is not great bit concerned over the lumpiness around the seat stays should I do a bit of home finishing before a respray/powdercoat

@ andy, ok shed is somewhat of an exageration, but:
*The end of the eighties also saw De Rosa outgrow the small work shop adjacent to his home where all his frames had been made, and he moved to a larger space in Cusano Milanino and assigned his sons definite responsibilities. Danilo and Doriano learned well from their father and started to work beside him in the most critical phases of frame construction while Cristiano took over the commercial side of the business.*

i have had a long discussion with the second owner of the bike and he told me that it has always been "just" white. You can also see this in the picture i posted above. I am tempted to stick decals on myself but might resist.
