  • Love the colour-matched stem tilover and the extra seattube is nifty..

  • here is a work in progress.
it's a hipster geared build, white rims and bar tape.

    worked in safari :-)

I have one of those DT Swiss Mon Chasseral front wheels with the white hub/rim - pretty light, not had to true it once in the last year or so.

  • FG, the cranks are storck powerarms, got the frame off Brian yeah, back in May. It is v. light, a bit too light, i think im going to need a helmet for it!

No such thing as too light.

    Helmets are for Australians.

  • finished this recently!

Slow, heavy, cheap cranks, OEM lever, plastic frame.

I will give you £200 cash.

  • Need to make a few adjustments and remove a couple of stickers, so still work in progress.

    Big thanks to:
Hillbilly for helping me assemble this project
Object, Dogsballs and Corny for BB advice - you guys were right!
Superprecise for his eye for aesthetics
and any other poor sod who I have either bored on this matter or whose advice or opinion I have sought

Photo was taken after Sano's birthday drinks (I even had a few shots of Sambucca in celebration of Ian getting older and that the bike was now assembled), so not the best picture.

As near perfect as any bike on here. Superb.

they look nice but at the end of the day they are just a 240 hub, RR1.1 rim , dt nipples and spokes you pay extra for the SLLLLLAAAAAAAAAVVVE.

  • You gots somethin' against farmers, boy?

  • Slow, heavy, cheap cranks, OEM lever, plastic frame.

Tempting, but i'll pass :) Hows your tomassini coming along? It's been months now mate. FGSS awaits.

(thanks for the crank + the extralite lever btw)

  • White is the new black. Dura ace deep carbon rims are white for 2009.

  • My Surly build, finished last week - second attempt at posting a picture. Before anyone says, I did tighten the chain after seeing this photo.

  • nice, well done, very clear concept

Cheers mate - I tried to keep it ultra minimal. I was thinking of getting a black brooks team pro at some point but can't figure out if that will be a bit too much flash.

Unfortunate positioning of the teeth graphics.

  • That's a pretty Surly.

( take the rim stickers of – you managed it with the frame decals )

    Neat.

all nice apart from the color of the brake lever and the stickers on the rims, remove the stickers and get a black lever and it would be getting damn near.

Wicked website, not typical for a parts brand.

    in your own time.

    ;-)

It's funny, the only reason I didn't take the stickers off was that one of them has the name of the wheelbuilder, some guy in Oxford, on it. But you're right, they should come off really.

  • What chainset is that tilover?

its a tune fastfoot road crank

  • Hi!

This will be my first restoration project; I've had many bikes before but never stripped one down completely like this. A good friend gave me the bike, bought new in 93, and told me I should pay him as much as it takes for me not to feel ashamed for taking it off him :D

Help me out with valuing it so that I don't rip him off completely :P

This is what I want to make it look like:

...A poor mans Cinelli Supercorsa in other words, bar the red pedals of course :D

Do you think this bike is worth the effort of respraying, possibly chroming etc, or should I just buy a lookalike frame/bike instead? It's a relatively common look, so they crop up on ebay now and then starting from about £300. I enjoy the tinkering of course, but I wouldn't want to spend too much time polishing a turd so to speak :)

Tube stickers say "Made in Italy", and "Columbus speciali trafilati, acciaio CrMo, GARA Tre tubi". Brakes are Shimano Exage 500EX, derailers 300EX...

P.S. Apologies for the large images, if this isn't something you do at this forum let me know and I'll reduce their size.
