Ed, how are you getting on with those mavic ceramics? I'm considering some myself.
I would ask how the braking surface is...

Not really fond of the saddle, but it's the least uncomfortable insofar, my Brooks' (B17) leather is already stretched enough and I can just about feel the metal skeleton holding the leather, not exactly comfortable, even thought it's more comfortable than the Fizik.
Brakes has never even touched the rims, I chosen it purely for appearance really (it's the CD version, not the ceramic, those cost twice as much).

ed, how can your best bike, be called a winter hack?!?!?!
-

I have the same Mavic CD's, and the braking surface seems to be holding up absolutely fine. Though, i thought that is what they are designed for. They have a tougher finish than normal open pros.

What mudguards are those ed? They look nice.
-

It's those SKS one, only just discovered that they make them in white, shame about the mount being in black.

I only have 2 and a half bike, one is the dutch bike for when I don't feel like cycling, the other is the Bob Jackson which is my main everyday bike, and the half is my 'pretty' bike, the fillet brazed Holdsworth that's slowly getting build up when fund allowed.

Hello all
I have Puzzled over the year as I have seen a 1973 Gazelle track with the curved seat stays but when this finally came in the post it didn't 'ave 'em. It's still looking lovely though. If anyone knows let me know otherwise I will go hunting for a date tomorrow.

Anybody else's projects being held up by the post?
Not getting any further with this until the Royal Mail come through for us
Yes! I have been waiting for my chris king headset for 2 and a half weeks! And then tomorrow I'm ordering a seatpost from america so I'm sure I'll be waiting for ages...
Seriously tests your patience :) -

Perfect, I always find all it take is simply a change of fork to make the Bianchi Pista into a pretty little bike.
my current project is a Bianchi Pista with a 3Rensho fork. the photos of the frame are on the respray gallery, but here's one:
That is looking lovely. And a nice looking respray.

Time to sort out a winter hack, more hand position (old levers from my first road bike), different saddle and mudguard should do the trick.
Hello Ed
Sorry to ask but what are the rims on this bike ? They look like Mavic. They are nice. -

Seriously tests your patience :)Try over 5 months.
I'm beginning to think I won't be finished until spring, on my winter bike.
Just missing 1 small part.

Hello Ed
Sorry to ask but what are the rims on this bike ? They look like Mavic..Yes, it's open pro CD (not ceramic, that got the rough braking surface).

Doesn't your front Raceblade knock against the fork bridge as you ride?
...and the rear knog get covered in road-shit?
-
• #18165
i don't know if they have been invented, but someone really should make hand rests for front brake/no brake bikes with out the ugly lever, or just covers for handrests with lever removed so that they have cleaner lines.
-
• #18166
They're commonly available - tend to be used by the stoker on a tandem

Not really mine since Scherrit's building it but I'm paying and powering it so I get to post it.

Finally finished my Bob Jackson after the hassle of it arriving scratched. Went for a test ride and it rides well. Feels a bit stretched so will be on the lookout for a shorter stem. Any recommendations?
It is actually green, but due to my camera (phone) being crap it looks black. I have a decent camera on the Christmas list!

-
• #18171
What size is the BJ? 62? 63?
-
• #18172
25.5" - 65cm.
-
• #18173
You may be 6.5 but that bike looks odd
-
• #18174
If everyone was as tall as me, that bike wouldn't look so odd.

mate, you need some road drops, then you won't have as much throw on the front and you'll be able to reduce the stem stack.
agreed, horrific saddle... nice for a hack!
