  • i dunoo really, but i still think the frame looks too big for a person 6'6", like i said earlier im 6'3" and i need no where near those kind of tube lengths. it seems overly big

He mentioned he didn't want too much saddle to drop. Maybe he'd be better off with a Hybrid.

    (Joke!)

  • issues with the seatpost,
    either
    A] lost in post
B] seller is a bit backward (been waiting 3 days for a reply now)

anyway, all i need is a seatpost now.. thanks for asking.

What seatpost is it? How long are you supposed to have waited and how long has it taken?

  • how about a giant lowpro with a regularish headtube and one super big seat tube? might look slightly less strange?

  • I've always thought about getting something like that. I'm 6'5".

  • I know a guy in san diego who'se 7'3

maybe i should get him into riding bikes, have a go on my 52cm frames :))

im waiting for a 27.2 USE Alien Seatpost, i don't have any other 27.2 seatpost in my possession, so i'm a bit stuck untill it arrives, 1 month and waiting.

    should have arrived by now..

  • Nice one, good choice.

If I had one I would lend you it... I'm sure you can sort out a cheap replacement until it arrives?

As long as it's not the 'nag, that would definitely be an excuse for the dent to turn into a fold...

  • I don't think you could get too aggressive with the front end, otherwise you get an awful lot of stem.

thanks Mr Crowe, I'm nearly there, patience is almost spent, i can wait a little longer.
When i do i'll show you how to properly fixy skidd over putney bridge with no handz!

  • Dude, please don't! Not on your new bike at least! ;)

This is my first fixie and first project.....Sorry its so massive, just had this powder coated and stuckit together in the living room.....
pointers please as I know nothing.....and Yes; i realise it hasn't a chain nor pedals!! White bmx pedals maybe??

Like it. Would be fun with flats and some chunky tires.

  • @ ironman - nice and simple project.

  • Final draft:
Slight reduction of head tube and seat tube to makeh teh small rear triangle. Any more than this, and i think the seatpost will be too stressed and the steerer will become spacerlicious.

I have asked the communists to construct the frame from gigantitaniumâ„¢ to deal with any head tube flex.

  • So what are the actual dimensions of that then Baker?

    Seat tube/top tube/angles?

  • not that it means anything but im 6'3"and ride a 60cm frame with some seat post, and thats just about perfect. that thing looks enormous. obviously physiology varies greatly.

i have a guy in my club that rides a 70cm frame and looks like guile from street fighter, his bike looks bizarre with normal 700C's and a massive frame.

  • Anybody else's projects being held up by the post?

Not getting any further with this until the Royal Mail come through for us

  • my current project is a Bianchi Pista with a 3Rensho fork. the photos of the frame are on the respray gallery, but here's one:

  • ^ Interesting idea, looks nice

Still think the head tube is to long and the main triangle is far to much like a rectangle to be strong. This goes double if its being made from bendo-flexo eastern block titanium. I know its not the cool thing to do but flip that stem and shorten the head tube. There is no reason the stem needs to be a -5deg job apart from asthetics.

  • Is a double top tube feasible?

Thanks for the advice JDB; it's appreciated, and i'm sure you're right! To be honest though, I think that aesthetics probably account for 60% of my decision making, and frankly, i'd rather have a 5-pinter than a 10-pinter.

The bike will be for commuting, knocking around town, and the occassional long ride, so i'm unlikely to be dealing with any technical descents. However, i've tried to stiffen-up the front end as much as possible with a massive down tube and tapered top tube. Should be ok i think :-/

Perfect, I always find all it take is simply a change of fork to make the Bianchi Pista into a pretty little bike.

  • Time to sort out a winter hack, more hand position (old levers from my first road bike), different saddle and mudguard should do the trick.
