The stem is a Titan. I have another one for sale, it needs replating though:

@Superprecise
Josh- this looks like it will build up way beyond lovely. Great work on the photography, too- although I'd have expected nothing less...
I'd love to see the finished bike in the flesh sometime (if I am ever in London again...)

Mystery road/path frame.
I just need some french threaded pedals, bb nipple, seatpost bolt and white cloth bartape to finish.
If I can find out who made the frame, i'll get it refinished in more period colours.looks nice, but please rotate your bars slightly upwards.
it looks like it's sad.

Golden Flares...... mark up the bars very accurately with a fine marker, one first, cut with a tensioned, new hacksaw blade, use offcut to mark up other side, file ends for final finish and fine tune.. feint heart never won maiden fair !p
ps use a vice to hold the bars while cutting -

I just aquired a frame for a project, does anybody know much about Old Look Carbon frames and what problems I should keep an eye out for.
Do I have to use special paint on Carbon?
This is going to be a slow burning project due to other commitments but I am looking forward to it and having something unique to ride, that hopefully doesn't creak and squeek like my current bike. -

pps. use a soft jawed vice to hold the bars while cutting.

That frame acctually is a little similar to my harry quinn track/path frame,
they both have very thin rear stays and similar forks, mine though has the lugs picked out in blue so they are clearer to make out.
The track ends are also the same.
Whatever it is, its a very nice frame.
Check my profile for pictures and see what you think.

It was the bermondsey hacksaw massacre last night, the old girls raleigh frame I posted a few pages back is now ~ 4grams lighter and won't have a derailer anytime soon.

pps. use a soft jawed vice to hold the bars while cutting.
As long as you put the part of the bar you are removing in the vice then it doesn't really matter what vice you use as you will be throwing that part of the bar away. That's my approach anyway.

Why don´t you guys just use s pipe cutter?
I´ve been using this, there´s nothing that can even come close to the result.
-
• #17590
They're just bars. If you have a pipe cutter then great, but a hacksaw will do...especially if you have a vice.
-
• #17591
i've always cut bars using a hacksaw with them in the stem, get a mate to help if around with stabilising the bike. results aren't exactly always straight or perpendicular but it doesn't really matter when you have bar end plugs in.

For most bars I can get away with just looking at them, and thinking the exact width I want, however I have been known to bring out the Karate Chop for the more tricky customers.
