of course - yet we all pretend to go along with the pretence that 'he's just looking for the right bike'.

He told me this one was a keeper.
And ... it doesn't look bad.

Picked this frame up tonight. My housemate and I are putting a bike together for his sister for christmas - we're on a budget so may be a bit of a headache getting cheapish parts that look good and work well but always up for a challenge. Paint is ok, but it's probably going to Armourtex...

Picked this up today. Was quite a change from my Fuji Track! Fucking loving it even though I haven't even properly set it up for me yet.

All I've done for the 29er this month, is build a front wheel. A couple of days ago I unlaced the brake disc side after I changed my mind* spoke-wise. I'm going backwards here :(
The original plan was to go all DT Revos on a 32 3x wheelset, using Hope Pro IIs and velocity blunts. I'm now replacing the brake disc side spokes with Super comps, partly to make the building easier, partly to stiffen up the wheels for disc brakes use.
(*had explosive wind-up, while dishing/tensioning the front wheel. Not fun)

had explosive wind-up
what does that mean? a nipple shot out of the rim or something?

DT Revos are very thin spokes so spoke wind-up is a serious problem. To solve this I wrapped some tape around a pair of pliers, and used them to clamp the spokes while truing/tensioning. This actually worked well although made the build a very slow process.
I was finishing off the wheel, and noticed it was slightly out of dish. So I went around and tightened the disc side spokes. The wheel started going out of true, and I tried to fix this. At this point I should have admitted it was late and put the wheel away. But I had been so close to finishing that I figured I'd just true it up and check tension the next day. I must have unknowingly screwed the same spoke several times. Because when the tipical PING noise (spoke suddenly untwisting and screwing into nippple) came it was fecking loud, and was followed by the spoke snapping in a near explosive manner. As it suddenly realised it was 3-4 mm too short for its position in the universe. Scared the hell out off me.
Inspecting the wheel after showed that it was just the one spoke that had been so badly twisted, but as this is a relativly expensive wheelset. I decided to I should spend a couple extra £s and do the build properly.

Last week's "current project"
I turned my bike in to a horse for the Scalleycat in Liverpool. I was a knight (don't have my helmet on in this shot though) -

okay, good luck with it, i ve heard the pings but they were just from normal spokes ripping the threads out of the nipples

Don't blame you M8.
kingcutter doesn't have "current projects" just things he's getting ready to sell.
