I tell you what you fuckers all want.
Sublimated powercoating.
Fuck trying to be stealth, they'll never turn up again.
You want a bike that has cabbies saying " hey poofta, nice bike" or "hey fag, get the fuck out of my way next time or I'll ram you like your boyfriend did last night"thats what you want.

What treatment is that Ed? Being left out in a puddle for a few weeks? It's just a visual affectation and nothing at all to do with being practical. Fuck that.
To put it rather mildy, a 'shitty bike' treatment, I've just acquired a fillet brazed Holdsworth path racer for not a lots of dosh, so I have the best of both world;

I don't get what you're saying Ed. Nice frame though. what about Bob?

I hate you ed.
I'm not sure I can continue on this forum anymore.[goes off in a fit of jealous rage and steals eds bikes (future and present).]

...and for the record sometimes deliberate rust can be appropriate and look good:

talking of cunts...
in my lbs the other day i saw a wheel propped up and i couldn't quite believe my eyes
it's a tune disc hub with bladed spokes on zipp carbon tubs. it is intended for use on a customers 'pub bike'
WTF!? who has tubs on a pub bike!? he only built it to show off to his mates - its a pig ugly storck hybrid and makes me a little sick in my mouth but also a little jealous of such great parts being used in the wrong way
thoughts?

Ha! Was thinking exactly the same thing Henry. :-)

about fiddy?
tilover- you should meet fiddy.
I was trying to edit my post so it didn't sound like I was calling Paul a cunt.also, mrlemon, you could, but you'd have to steal it from me!
I particularly like blowing kisses at the cabbies, so you'd be taking away my mornings entertainment. -
• #17236
Yes about Fiddy, you didn't make him sound like a cunt, although you've now made me look like one by deleting your post. :p

Your such a tease Henry..

the Bob is getting sold eventually, especially to pay for the BMW. What I am getting at with the BMW is that it's going to be an everyday bike, with rust and such, it'll (hopefully) look less desirable to thieves, and build up with component that I wouldn't worry about if it got stolen/broken (like system ex hubs and mavic open pro).
The Holdsworth however will get the nice treatment, right now I'm fitting the Campag Record crank on it (althought it will have the phils + grey mavic open pro wheelset from the Bob).
Actually one thing I like about that Holdsworth is that despite it's being build for 27", a 700c with 28c tyres fit perfectly with just enough clearance.
L'Eroica, here I come!

A storck hybrid?! now that's all kind of awesome.

no worse than a track frame with risers being ridden on the road in a twiddly gear by somebody struggling to grow a mustache.

+1
Also can someone who has run messenger cranks, tell me if to get 103mm BB + msgnr cranks = chainline you have to have the chain ring on the inside?
Cheers.
ps I'm off to check on the transsexual date base now.

is that oops as in 'I just brought a sweet bike' oops?
yeah. C2W voucher :) and I need a new tourer.

They might have stove enameled that rusty frame, omitting a primer. It's more resistant to corrosion than paint.

• #17245
Sorry Eddie - I reckon this is not gonna hold out. My guess is that it'll fail gracefully, and can be repaired.
Beautiful otherwise tho.

It looks much worse than it really is in the picture, it's really not that big at all. You are overreacting too much, it's only a small dent. I am not the worlds richest man, I just want a nice frame to ride.

• #17247
I too would be worried about such a large dent. Lovely besides though

Cover it up with a toptube protector - Good as new :)

In my understanding, even a moderately small dent can easily make the frame a lots weaker? I only base this on those cardboard cyinder that are very stiff and strong until a small dent on it bend the cyinder easily as if it were a piece of paper.
