I rode that same Benotto tape for a while
(I did not choose this bar/griptape combo BTW, it came already on the bike)
... and it was a bit of a struggle. The grip is almost inexistent.
Impossible to ride with gloves (any that I´ve tried), and they do not absorb well
hand sweat. They look dope tho´.well, it's definitely not a choice for comfort. i was thinking about using it with these gel strips you put under the tape. could be interesting.
it's getting quite popular, i reckon. it must be for the looks.Curious about the brake cable.
I've just fitted a cross-top and wasn't quite sure how long to make it / what angel. (awesome build BTW)
Any particular reason for having it ^ this ^ way?
only reason is that i haven't taken the time to shorten it yet.

just picked this up, not sure what to do with it though....
no drilling for front brake and I don't do brakeless!!
Beautiful.
If you are serious about keeping this as a road fixed, there is space on that fork for a front brake drilling. You could do this yourself, if you have a good drill and a clamp. But it would be pretty scaring, and I cant imagine a LBS charging much to do it for you. If you are just going to ride it around for a bit and get bored/sell it. Then clamp-on is probably the way to go. -

I think it is also too big for me :-(
really want to keep it though - it would be a waste just to hang on the wall!

Maybe buy another fork which is drilled for brakes, and save the undrilled one?

I think the frame is telling you to master riding brakeless :-)

if it too big, sell it and get one that fit you, it's no fun riding a frame that doesn't fit you despite how lovely it is.

DON'T DRILL IT!
Make sure it fits, then get another fork. That thing is too beautiful to drill through.

nice build there Van U, looking forward to seeing it in person... where did you find the stem?

I'm currious, will the nag* rust under the clear coat, or will it protect it as well as a normal paint job?
*bc I can't spell Nagasawa and couldn't be arsed to look up the page... yes I know its just above me but thats my story and I'm stucking to it!
sadly it will rust in my experience - clearcoat doesn't sit on the metal well without a primer and rust seems to always creep through eventually - the only example of non-rusted clearcoat bikes have been brooklyns, i have no idea what they do differently or whether they just havn't rusted yet.
i pick up my fillet brazed clearcoat frame at the weekend... fingers crossed! -

TBH I'm a bit precious about altering things but seriously, just get another fork. As a % cost of the total build its going to be negligable...
...and it seems a real shame to fuck with it when it might not be the correct size.
Also aren't clamp on's hard to get and only average at braking?

Exactly.
my Gangsta will recieve the same treatment too, as well as using very cheap (but reliable) part on it instead of the usual high end phils and sugino 75.

ezra at fastboy cycles has been developing a patina process with no lacquer but he reckons its just a pain in the ass to have to clean down your bike everytime it gets splashed, hopefully my new bike will be a sunny day riding bike anyways... have other bikes with mudguards for when its raining
