  • Good;)

  • mine is most definitely a low pro, and is 700 on the front :)

Is that the one that was on ebay a couple of months back? Didn't know you won it, fair play :-)

  • Beauty.

I am working on a similar setup with a different frameset and older Campagnolo Record Pista though.
I'm still not sure if I will use the toestraps with or without the plastic knobs at the end.
I have them and I know it's easy to grab them.
But as I remember from long time ago, the clicking noise while riding can be irritating. And when you remove the knobs, ugly holes are left.
What did make you to use the knobs ?

What bar tape are you going to use?
I will start with Tressostar black cloth. Perhaps will shellec.
Other options are Benotto cello tape or Bike Ribbon.

What chain are you going to use?
I may start with a 3/32" because I have a Super Record ring in 3/32" and both sizes sprockets.
I have a nice Sedis Pro, but unfortunately it's too short.
Would be nice to have an Italian, but it's hard to get a (silver) Regina (1/8" or 3/32") even another Italian.
I'll start with a SRAM PC 870 (890 is too expensive).
What do you think is Italian, age correct and available?

  • Pedals and straps were used with the plastic ends already attached. Would probably have fitted them any way. Straps are short and stiff enough that they don't flap.

Will go with padded plastic tape as it's comfortable and easily cleaned. Have already tried white which looks good and black which was ok. Guess I have to also test red and yellow but don't see them as winners. Soyo grips are also an option.

Using Izumi Super Toughness or ESH, both have gold/black links. Not sure if there any Italian chain manufacturers still around. Good luck finding an affordable Regina. SRAM PC-1 is a great low cost silver model and Wippermann is supposed to be really good.

  • Nice work there. Tad steep for my liking ;-)

wait till you see mine :D

  • Just need to cut down the excess steering tube, then all done for now

Will gradually drape it in carbon everything.

  • Nice but I thought you were selling it?

  • That does look good.

Do you have your custom frame yet?

  • wait till you see mine :D

Ha, this I must see...ass in the air, nose to the front wheel job aye? ;-)

  • nice, but risers? surely that should be your out and out track machine?

  • Nice frame, I have the same in Blue. Has now been powder coated in RAL5015.

  • nice work dwayne - will be lovely to see that on the track.

skully - nice suggestion. will get on to ray about the Fizik forum. it's a great idea.

braker - yup - am in the chesini club dude

  • nice, but risers? surely that should be your out and out track machine?

It would be sh*t for the track. The geometry is rubbish. It is basically a TT geo with track ends.

  • TT bars then? ;)

  • Do you have your custom frame yet?

    Not yet :-(

  • Nice but I thought you were selling it?

Well, I just made a flippant comment about having too many bikes, and I seem to have sold it. Had offers for 4 people already! It is amazing to ride, so I will get at least some miles out of it first.

  • That's good to hear, buying then never riding a frame sucks ass.

  • ...love that.

    **Are **you selling it?

  • ...doh! didn't refresh before posting, my bad.

  • Just need to cut down the excess steering tube, then all done for now

Will gradually drape it in carbon everything.

I have a pair of wheels that would look the bollocks on that you will see them next week in current projects

  • Dear god that stem / bar combo! :X

  • I have a pair of wheels that would look the bollocks on that you will see them next week in current projects

Not unless they are deep section carbon clinchers :-)

  • Building up a geared bike is slower than I thought... well this one is.

Also when does this ever happen!!!

Was kindly given a pair of Weinmann deep drop calipers by Wimmy, but they're too deep! So now I have a pair of sweet dura ace which aren't deep enough these and the 2 stone ones the bike came with.

    Still to come:

    • Decals not original but good enough (on Fri hopefully)
    • Rear mech hanger
    • x 1 gear cable (b/c I had to trim the end)
    • x 2 rubino pros (Wiggle is out of stock so they're going to send them whenever they feel like it)
    • maybe brakes

I've got brown fitz to match the sadle, still thinking about white tape - any opinons?

White tape for sure, I have a road frame in this colourway, and have tried all the colours you suggested. White all the way :)

I find that hard to believe

    Sorry, couldn't resist
