  • a new custom bike and you still go spending money on ebay willy nilly! Jammy, for the last time employ me.

  • ohh you might see the rixon built today too

  • I found it impossible to resist a frame in my size for less than a ton!

And good news on the Rixxon!

  • thanks
lyotard pedals restored by steel wool 000 and miror

the saddle sanding 1000 + nivea cream

  • That 70's/80's (?) Campagnolo crankset is a stone cold design classic.

  • If you don't care about the stem and it's really stuck... cut it, get the forks out, and use a saw to split the stem in 2 or 3 pieces.. then you should be able to get it out..

It's a hell of a job, I did it with a seatpost and a stem..

Well meanwhile i found loads of tutorials around the web of how to deal with stem, seatpost, basically any fitting on a frame. It turns out that a mere can of soda water can do wonders and save you loads of time, money and effort. The soda will "eat" away the rust around the stem wedge, if you just heat it up a bit with a torch and a bit of leverage
it will pop out, no worries. This is the theory part, i´m about to find out by the end of this week.

  • looking good, v-man. i saw it on thursday and i must say the saddle looks lovely with the frame colour. the seatpost compliments it well too.

i think campag record cranks would look nice on this one.

  • the tubing is pretty low-end but not a bad frame thought, surprisingly light for an cheap and basic tubing.

Any idea if it's a durable enough frame for long distances with gear loaded onto the bike? It has eyelets for racks etc, so to some extent it can carry a load.

everyone moans about how low end the tubing is, i had one for a year and the bike was very strong and it served me well with no problems.

Do you have any pictures of yours? Did you buy your frame separate or a complete bike? Just curious about how you have interpreted the Peugeot, I was having a look at old catalogue pictures 60's 70's and 80's and I'm looking to get a nice vintage look if possible.

  • Whats wrong with just riding the frame in bare metal? I've got an Alu road bike which I've ridden bare metal (in the wet too) for 6 months. Its still nice. Not as shiny as before but its fine.

    Pure vanity really!
I like the bare metal look, but the polished surfaces are real finger print magnets...

I've got a rattle can clear lacquer to try out on it just to see what it looks like on a section before I go crazy and do the whole thing or take it to Armourtex.

  • How to avoid the chain coming off at the front ?

  • Why? Because of the lack of front derailleur? Been cycling around all weekend and absolutely no problems yet. Btw there is only a lever boss on the right hand side (not both) so I imagine it was intended to be run with a single front.

  • Huh? I used to ride a 5 speed way back as a teenager. TT bikes are often built with only a single chainring, right?

  • Pista is nearly done I need brown toe straps if anybody has any and I am waiting on my new headset so I can cut the steerer down.

  • love the shape of the saddle. what is it?

  • judging by the text on the side, i'd say a concor

  • ^ Ooooh... hark at thee.

    @Zed... nice
    TNRC fixed then yeah ?

you can have my brown leather odge double straps, if you pay me the £30 it will cost to replace them with black ones.

Or he could pay Odge £30 for some brand new brown ones for himself.

Shoots yeah dude, I got the Mars Bar (tm) bike for that. Will take pics when thats done.

you tell me that now I've bought and installed the Miche chainset! why-I-oughtta...

The saddle is sweet, pretty comfy too. I need to sort out the stem and spacers, but I've had no time recently.

he's not doing brown any more.... can't get hold of any decent brown leather so i'm told.

    but thanks anyway.

  • "All City" make brown leather straps which retail for 35USD with free postage.

They have the advantage of being both brand new and cheaper than your second hand ones.

  • best buy those ones then.
