• @glockart? Is that a rusty finish? left to rust or chemical patina? it's something I'd like t try

  • Hello all,

After riding my Viner fixed for three years, I just finished getting it converted to a 7 speed, rear derailleur town racer.

Massive thanks and credit to Retro Di Corsa for the amazing wheels, brakes, derailleur and putting it all together...not to mention the general inspiration!

Also thanks to Hilary for the cranks and Poly bike user for the chainring.

    Anyway here it is:

The main highlights are the NOS lambda rims to Super record hubs, Monoplanar brakes, campy chainset, centuar bb and campy headset. The 1978 frame ain't bad either ;-)

  • Nice.

  • I like. That front brake is lovely, I want one.

  • only one thing, the brake levers

  • Very nice, agreed on the brake levers

  • yeah, but i like the diversity of having different bike setups. I might put trad drop levers on at some point, but I have ergos on my Pin so crosstop it is (for now). Cheers for the nice comments.

  • No more pink wheels for me. The new Wolber has made me want to never have deep rims ever again.

  • Ha ha I saw the graffiti frame, reminds me of the GT's from mid 90's they were all graffiti paintjobs, I had a Tequesta, and a friend had a Karakoram... good times!

I was told its a 98/99 model so after the Trek buyout, but before they moved the factory, its a 1 1/8" headset. Very tempted by red anodised parts for it, already have some x-lite stubby barends in red, and Hope do a nice line in bits and bobs...
There is some orange on the forks/seatpost so red/gold or maybe purple might work for bits...

Whats wrong with just riding the frame in bare metal? I've got an Alu road bike which I've ridden bare metal (in the wet too) for 6 months. Its still nice. Not as shiny as before but its fine.

  • thanks
the rusty is naturel let time
the bike look like this before modification

  • Just finishing my first build, got a sugino rd crankset and had to replace and re grease the bb bearings, i have grinded, filed and sanded all the braze ons off and am going to be stripping the paint within the next few days. just needs pedals/toe clips and straps and a new seat then im done.

    oh and new tyres!

Awesome - on the brake levers BLB do a polished/machined aloy set of clamp on crosstops that would look just the job, as they work well with a retro build, look a bit like these

    Mental.

  • ^ indeed, im not usually one to get all uppity about some puppy slaughter, but that paintjob is lovely! please dont turn it into another identihip machine!

  • ^the green one ooop there?!

i reckon it looks a bit wank. get some RAL 5012 on there.

  • Apparently the stem is stuck. Like proper glued to the forks.. Any ideas how to
    remove it w/o any harm?

If you don't care about the stem and it's really stuck... cut it, get the forks out, and use a saw to split the stem in 2 or 3 pieces.. then you should be able to get it out..

It's a hell of a job, I did it with a seatpost and a stem..

stealth man, good work on that

  • I've got a Peugeot (carbolite) '85/'86 frame winging its way to me sometime this week, already been told by somebody it's a bad production of frames (carbolite) ? but I like it, it's a perfect size and I only paid £40 for it so I'll be looting my Dawes* for pretty much everything, even that damn Brooks and selling off the frame to a friend.

the tubing is pretty low-end but not a bad frame thought, surprisingly light for an cheap and basic tubing.

  • Alas! The old purple spray painted, BB pain in the ass (but loved) Zeus......

Has been given the old makeover

Aram, beautiful! Is the silver on the tubes chrome or some kind of shiny decal stuff?

Great work dude. No wonder you've been obsessing about it.

my project for hand made contest pignonfixe.com

based old bicycle found in landfill

    modified fork

    Following my projects

ideale saddle gomme laque and home made straps

    restored saddle

    restored lyotard pedals

    gomme laque + marine laque

Great work. The Ssaddle is lovely now. What did you do to get the hide looking even again? Did you rechrome the pedals or just strip the rust off?

Please ... For the love of god not those bars^^

Aaahhh thanks for doing that. Phew. Much better.

nice work Kam. Really, really nice.

BTW chain looks a bit long.

  • cheers Skully :-)

We need to take the derailleur apart to re-adjust it. That should sort out the slack in the chain, i think removing another links would bring the wheel too far forward in the dropouts.

Btw that's the saddle i never got round to dropping off to you! You still chopping?

  • erm, yes ish.

I'm sort of down on chopping B17s as they're pretty soft, but that black Team Pro will take it.

    Give me a shout whenever.

  • My monstrous Tom Avon frame and forks arrived.
25.5 inches of 531 niceness. I'll be building it up geared when I find a groupset that suits/I can afford. Just wacked my other wheels on it to give an idea of scale ;)

  • when's the steve goff ready? i want to see it as i'm trying to decide between him or woodrup for a custom order.

  • Today :D Expect photos ;)
