limited knowledge about bikes tbh so working on it slowly and carefully as i understand more stuff (only recently found out what cotter-pinned crank are) and have spare cash. know it's not a patch on most bikes on here but you've got to start somewhere i guess...
You do and I think you've done a nice job there. The main thing is to enjoy building the bike and then to enjoy riding it.

so...should i be concerned that my current project using a road frame will be a problem( COLNAGO MASTER X LIGHT)?
will a 165 crank provide enuff clearance? perhaps i should use speedplays as well???

@ delta,
you probably haven't spent enough time on the forum at this point, puppy killing means when you take a perfectly serviceable road bike and strip off the bits which make it a road bike so you can ride it fixed.in answer to your other question most of the people on here are just fried. Try it you might like it.

I hope that puppy is sleeping... I <3 puppies...

it's only puppy killing if it's a really nice looking geared frame that's been converted to fixed.
i.e
old cheap rusty frames are fine, no puppies died (dont worry a|s) -

Chill ;)
It's all good humour on here. And most people have slayed a puppy or two in their time. There's a lot of conversions out there so reckon if you've got 165 crank arms you should be ok.
I have an old road frame with 170 arms and clearance is ok.

+1 with an extra strength 'Yeah, baby" for good measure...
**edit: *Imagine Corny's saying the 'Yeah, baby"* bit... Powerful shit... -

put some wheels on it and then go yo the BB height thread. 270mm is normal-ish I think.
please don't cut off any braze-ons in the conversion!
