Surly. It’s getting close. Just waiting on my saddle and the rear dynamo light.

New tires, went from 2.4 to 2.15. Just too many ongoing clearance issues.
These DTH tires are noticably less grippy than the Holyrollers which were fitted before (duh). So I need to take care a little bit more in corners with dirt/puddles. -

Very stiff and perfect for all conditions -

Upgraded basically every part but the frame. This bike is transformed.

Still extremely good!

That's wonderful. But why would you remove the fenders though ?

Thanks both.
But why would you remove the fenders though ?
I wanted it to feel as fast and lively as possible. Especially with an upcoming gravel event where I could ride it hard without having to worry about rattles, things getting stuck and parts coming loose. Of course the event is postponed, so maybe I'll put them back on. Summer's still far away unfortunately.

Such a great bike, something about the tyres really compliments the frame.

Very nice! Are they rat trap pass tyres? What rims are they?

Are they rat trap pass tyres?
They are. "2.3"/58mm", coming in at only 53mm on these Ryde Andra 40 rims (25mm internally), with tubes. Extralight casing, very light though and felt great during my test ride down the street. I saved over a kilogram switching over from the Big Apples.

Well they still look pretty chunky. Ah cool, was looking at those rims for a possible retro MTB build. Anything to report? Guess they're pretty solid

@Jaap who built my wheels said one of the rims wasn't that round around the weld, making it harder to true perfectly radially. I guess that's what you pay for. They seem really solid other than that. I plan to tour on them, so will have to see how they preform in that scenario.
@Heldring also used them, on this Surly World Troller. That's where I got the inspiration from.

Ye I guess that is what you pay for. Well hopefully they do well. Just saw you saved a kilo with those tyres! Jeez

There isn't a weld, that's why they tend to be flat at the (pinned) joint.

The nice things the tyres say about the frame, presumably. I guess they also complement it.

Glad you agree!

They're really nice looking tyres, which doesn't really matter, but is a nice plus. Very dark and shiny rubber, which will probably fade over time with use.
Love seeing this come together. Whats the rear hub?
