  • Mine range from 435-415. Currently slammed to the back I think

  • I have recently relocated my bike collection from one location in South East London to another.

This has lead me to take note of just how many 'projects' I actually have on the go.

One such is, or was, a Bates 'Hellenic', which I had virtually finished years ago, but struggled to set up the centre pull brakes with such a long straddle wire as required by the Hellenic geometry.

This was my first, and to date only, encounter with centre-pulls, so I just assumed I was useless, and stuck the Bates in a corner.

Anyhow, as I was passing, I decided to let the boys at Rad Bikes have a look. Turns out I'm not completely useless, and that Dia Compe 610 callipers (see classifieds), are not compatible with this type of geometry (who know)?

Anyhow, the good people of Rad Bikes sorted me out with some Paul Callipers, and tweeked a few things, and hey-presto, I've got another bike:

  • I've got such serious bike envy, you have a fantastic fleet!

  • Final weight? (The bike, not you..)

  • Dunno yet. I broke my scale :-)
I will weigh when tubeless tyres are fitted and I am at Stayer Cycles next time.

  • Put the cannondale back together after I transfered the 105 groupset on the scapin a few months ago. I now have two operative road bikes
The caad10 will soon have 38mm carbon rims once I've ordered spokes

  • Both are stunning!

  • Would anybody like to sell me some wide bars? :~)

If you're srs I have a set of easton EA70s for sale. Uncut 680s I think, but would have to check that.

    PM me if you want

  • Volare is done, only need some logos for it.

  • Bankiren toutch ! <3

  • Close up of seat stays will give us a better idea.
Does it have a brake bridge?

  • Possibly of interest for people using a mavic starfish on a track bike: fyxo is selling solid looking 1/8 130bcd chainrings for a reduced price, the 'design 4' comes pretty close to the original 631 chainrings. I just ordered one for my cyfac project. https://fyxo.co/collections/chainrings/products/chainring-130bcd-silver

  • the good people of Rad Bikes

    On Lewisham Way right?
Spotted that shop couple of times in the last few weeks and didn't know what to think of a shop named "Rad Bikes"
Glad to hear about another good address in SE London!

  • On Lewisham Way right?

    That's the one.

Welcome addition to the local scene.

They should buy a coffee machine.

  • This came up in the local ads for a reasonable price. I told the seller that I won't be needing the stem, handlebars and the shifters.
SS, drop bars, 2.4" tyres monstercross fun project incoming. Buying the frame next week if everything goes right.

  • Quick parts bin build for the cyfac to dial it in. Excuse the awkward bar angle, I'm waiting for some compact bars and wanted to simulate flat tops. The geo is kinda weird but is seems to be a good fit: TT 54cm, ST c-c 52, c-t 57cm. Needless to say that the frame is stiffer than any of my other bikes.

  • You sure 2.4 will fit in the rear?

  • +1

    those chainstays look tight

  • I hope so, but we'll see. :)

  • I'm converting my cross check from road mode to truck mode and need some advice about cockpit setup.

I've got some fu man chu bars to fit https://www.picclickimg.com/d/l400/pict/142271426447_/Alpkit-Fumanchu-Loop-Bars-Like-Jones.jpg

But I can't make up my mind about shifters and levers.

Curently I have brifters and I'm toying with the idea of getting something that lets me attach them to the bars so that I can switch back to drops without changing shifters. SImilarly I was considering attaching my v brake specific drop levels to the bars to see how awful they will be.

Alternatively I need some v brake levers and shifters, either combined or seperate units.

    Thoughts?

  • V brake drop levers were terrible in my experience.

I'd just use paul thumbies or similar for shifting and cheap shimano/avid v brake levers on those flat bars

  • Is there a 'or similar' that doesn't cost £70?

  • Yep sunrace and Shimano make great cheap flat bar shifters.
