  • jerk everything.

sorry i missed you when you were in town spots - got distracted by wimmins and stuff. trust you had a ball.

no worries, next time maybe. We had a great time, went to a reggae/dub night so jerk would have been excellent, might have made up for my awful white person dancing.

After Xander introduced me to the joy that is the lamb shawarma, most excellent.

  • Lamb shawarma is about one of my favourite things. Plenty of tahini sauce on it, from Ranoush on High Street Kensington.

No shit spotter, don't you have them in Wales?

  • No doubt their readily avialable here but I've never been one for a kebab, I have a slight distrust of huge quatities of meat mushed up on to a pole and then left uncovered for hours at a time.
However following my excellent experience on the weekend, I will be making a beeline for the shawarma's next time the opportunitie arrises.

  • i love a shawerma. followed an online recipe once with disasterous consequences.

there's a stall doing lovely looking ones at the weekly food court thing behind the RFH.

reminds me, i must go back to pit-que again soon. that was lovely.

A proper shawarma is different to the minced alsatian that you get at most kebab places, it is lamb steaks threaded onto a spit and grilled.

    Kebab:

Ever noticed how there is no stray dogs near towns with a large number of kebab shops/vans?

  • i remember an old newman and baddiel (or possibly even, mary whitehouse experience) sketch about that.

it basically challenged, in some detail, the economics and effectiveness of wandering the neighbourhood at night with a big net looking for stray pets as opposed to say... bulk ordering cheap meat from a wholesaler.

always stuck with me and raises a smile whenever someone makes the hilarious joke about the local chinese serving dog or whatever.

  • She that leaf in the gutter rotting into mulch, dooks, the one with the edges curling towards the heavens in a pointless bid for life, with the slug smearing its trail across it while it feasts on the putrid little remains it can find, the reek of Nature reversed filling its nostrils while it gags on its feast, all the while you being trampled underfoot by the rank public with their dog-shit encrusted soles, adding to your woes and general pong of decay?

    That’s you, that is.

  • To be honest dooks, I would prefer it if was random stray pet in those elephant leg kebab spits as opposed to what is actually in it, thinking about eating a kebab made with one of those actually makes me feel properly sick. Most of it is fat, connective tissue, MRM and offal (not the good tasty stuff but lung etc.) without the spices, chemical binding agents and vast quantity of salt that they shoehorn into them they would simply fall apart.

I think that the sketch you are referring to was actually in the Mary Whitehouse Experience.

hahaha. i genuinely wondered where you going with that...

    then i lol'd

probably right bobbo. "the elephant's foot" my aussie mates call it. rank.

  • Nuno, if I go O cantinho, what should I be ordering?

    Everything.

  • Eat fish. Fish is amazing there.

  • Any recommendations for somewhere to eat close-ish to Liverpool St for around £40/£50 a head?

It's my housemates birthday tomorrow so nowhere too proper who would frown upon a bunch or 20 somethings having fun.

  • just came back from the most amazing food around here:

    http://www.number67.co.uk/

  • **The Good Cook on BBC1 now. No idea why BBC commission food content any more. I like Simon Hopkinson a lot - he's a good writer and clearly knows his food but if the program is an identikit model of anything else foody that's been on in the lat 5 years - same recipes, same filming style, same music, same locations, same ad-libbing by the presenter - what's the point?
    **

  • Yep - so serious I made it bold.

  • I just made a Caesar Salad.

  • did Caesar like it?

  • Caesar sister did.

  • I had a 'Julius Caesar' sandwich for lunch, so the shop call it.

Watching Tour highlights with Hopkinson on mute - that avatar thingy of Velocio's which is beyond me pops up on screen to give the recipe. Are you supposed to wave your phone in front of it? This modern world is too much for me.

  • ^ Another thing that got my goat. Are they kidding? Who the fuck do they think watches that programme? Velocio?

  • Whats the bbq meaty van thing that got posted about on here before, that's maybe located around southbank/borough market?

  • ^ -1 for typing 'foodie'.

  • Had a Pitt Cue yesterday,
Was tasty, but didn't come near to the goodness of maoz's falafel.

also I saw matt dawson filming that monster eating thing.

  • As in, the rugby player?
