  • You serve calçots. I'll make sure I'll visit next time I'm in the area.

  • Says the suth effrican....

  • Have a colleague who is currently in New Orleans raving about the food, definitely up for a visit to Decatur. Do you do beignets? Apparently they are the best things ever (according to colleague).

  • "suthefriggun"

  • and boiled crawdads are #nxtlvl

  • Beignets = fried dough.

Powdered sugar and consumed with coffee. Awwwww yissss!

    Of course it's good.

Pick a global cuisine where fried dough does not taste delicious. It's unpossible.

  • Indeed. Together we can solve the invasive North American crawfish problem in UK rivers. We're gunna need lots of hot sauce.

  • You should look into the vegetation cabinets people build to grow weed.

  • @dracula, after having seen Jon Favreau's Chef, feel the need for Beignets and Po'boy's in my life. If we can't organise this forum outing to Decatur, I'll put it into my personal diary, and head down with the other half in the next month or so.
Best to do the weekend, or evenings?

  • Can we organise a visit when I'm over, @greenhell? This needs to happen...

  • depends on you big man, when will you be free???

  • In.

    So in.

  • Souths goes East to eat Deep South. Love it.

  • I'm in since it's 10 mins from my flat

  • @Aroogah, @mashton lets not let this die under the weight of familial and work obligations. When y'all free week after next? Or the following week? So we can get a date in the diary.
    No bedwetting allowed..

  • Week after next any night works for me.

  • Week after the may bank holiday is OK. If we go early, I can drag you over the whisky club for a digestif.

  • wait for joe...

  • we're doing due diligence to see if it's worth him going there...

And anyway the bike walker isn't back into the country till late august, I'm not waiting that long...

  • Big shout-out to @giofox88 who gave me these beauties. Will report back soon.

  • Lucky bugger! Nice one Gio.

  • Nice meeting you! I'm very curious to see what you'll turn them into..

I have 4/5 left for us tonight.. I'm thinking halibut/artichokes pie, but since I'll probably go to the pub and not to the fishmonger, they will most likely just end up being stuffed and pan roasted.

  • redeemed.

    somewhat....

  • Controversial comment coming but I'm not a huge fan of artichokes.
    Nor saffron, or fungi truffles.

They're ok, but can live without them in my life.

  • Artichokes are delicious, I bloody love them and those ones up there look lush!

The restaurant @dracula is involved with sounds all kinds of awesome, it's 10 minutes down the road from my flat but I'm not sure how well I'd fare as a vegetarian.. (not a criticism, I'm just jealous).
