Yep, but it looks delicious, oh well.

You too! And thanks again, should have that honey soon.
Reckon I'll do something by Pellegrino Artusi who, apart from being an excellent 19th-century cook, is a delight to read: relaxed, knowledgable, and a little waggish to boot. His Science in the Kitchen and the Art of Eating Well is worth looking up.

It is delicious, just really meat centric. The wife is veggie and I would love to take her to New Orleans, but I would be in foodie heaven and she'd be stuck eating ham-less muffalettas all the time.

Well, good for you, much more economically convenient that hating rice, chickpeas and eggs.
I love em all! Especially on the saffron smuggled from Iran I got from a friend of mine, was just ridiculous!

Thought you'd prefer fish fingers.
1kg of steak between the two of us, and the meat coma headache still ensues.

Don't diss the fishdick.

@dracula oh god, not sure if my dad is in the country long enough to get a visit in this time but he would fucking love your place. but I might still pop in for my birthday in early june.
Only had 'proper' cajun once and it was at a place in the middle of nowhere called Ron's Cajun Connection (ronscajunconnection.com) in Utica, Illinois (90 miles out of chicago) where the owner had moved up from Louisiana. he had similiar issues with his boils being nowhere near the sea but apparently when he could get the crawfish they were legendary. the food was amazing.

Dog chewed through the gas hose on the big BBQ so had to use the smoker as a last minute alternative, so glad we did... Butterflied piri-piri chook was amazing... I need to get a chimney starter, lighting BBQs can be a massive PITA at times... Like tonight...

Should any of you ever make it Adelaide, Maxwell's winery in McLaren Vale is one for your list. Proper good food with lots from the smoker, very decent Verdelho. The kid was running down a grassy hill out front over and over again, and we were sitting outside and life was good.

Going to Cambridge this weekend, any recommendations for food?
-
• #23845
There's a decent coffee shop- Hot Numbers- which I remember having good breakfast when I passed through on a mini tour.
-
• #23846
Cambridge isn't the best for food but it's getting better.
^Hot Numbers is good
If you like burgers then try Steak and Honour burger van and on Fridays they're usually at Hot Numbers anyway. I rate them better than lots of the London burgers like Honest Burger, Patty & Pun etc. https://mobile.twitter.com/steakandhonour?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor
Other places: The Chop House, Pint Shop, Aromi, Bread and Meat

I was served a slow roast leg of lamb for one in a Kent pub recently which would easily have done for the Sunday roast for four when I was a kid. Not going to complain but it did strike me as vaguely obscene. I hoffed it all with dauphinois and buckets of red natch.
Am getting distinctly round in the midriff lately. I blame other things.
Southern food ain't vegetarian friendly. Canjun food in particular.
