Silk Road in Camberwell, delish, going to try again this weekend after a flat viewing
Fucking A! Hand pulled noodles FTW. Have the "Luxury Noodle", it's brilliant.

+1 for silk rd. Wuli Wuli is pretty good too, but not nearly as cheap.
Now I need somethang to impress a date on sat eve. I've got Fri to prep so don't mind something that needs marinating/slow cooking. Was thinking meaty/manly. Thinking some kind of pie, something gamey, or maybe something pretty like poussin on couscous? Ideas?
Also ideas for puddings?

There's the carnitas recipe I posted earlier and to finish a key lime pie. Bonus is you can do all that on Saturday and use Friday to sleep in.
Or if you're feeling adventurous you could make Bourbon Bacon Ice Cream.
This is also the best chocolate cake on the planet.

I made carnitas with that recipe and it was incredible, super citrusy so maybe reduce the lime/lemon content if you want it a bit subtler.

Tonight I was given a two hours, a tenner, some ineffective kitchen utensils, a brave member of staff and a kitchen, all to myself, so I could cook my dinner.
It amazes me how hard it is to find what I'd consider basic ingredients (such as coconut milk, tofu, rice wine vinegar etc.) here in the suburbs of SE London.
And don't even get me started on the coffee choices here.
This time M&S saved the day.
After two months of underwhelming, uninspiring, unseasoned 'unfood', which we're not even allowed to dish up for ourselves (due to health and safety) it was bloody brilliant to remember what it feels like to plan, shop, cook, share and eat a proper meal with flavour.*
*Might have been a teensy bit generous with the garlic and chilli but whatevs, making up for lost time.

LOVED the dumplings, only £3.50 for 10, had multiple reccos for their cabbage middle plate or something

Miss mouse's post touched on a raw nerve, the idea of being prevented from eating properly horrifies me to no end. Gives me shudders and fills me with terror.
I just want to declare that I really fucking love food. I appreciate it and enjoy it so much. It boggles my mind how so many people can neglect or deprive themselves of this pillar of joy in life.
And I feel very very sad for those who do not have access to adequate amounts of food. This is the only thing that upsets me about food, that lots of people dont have any. It prevents me from stuffing my face 24/7 (which I totally would do) because I feel like so horrendously greedy.
If I was in a situation where food was scarce, I would die first. If I had to subsist on hunting and gathering I would die before I found anything. If I was in prison and had to survive on spaghetti hoops I would probably kill myself. This is shameful to admit, but such is my need and enjoyment for eating.
I can find nibbling on pistachios as mentally stimulating as reading a book and certainly more satisfying. Is there such thing as a food addict? That is me if so.

I was watching that Masterchef thing last night, they were doing loads of porny shots of desserts, Greg Wallace practically foaming at the mouth, my heart was RACING, I was giddy, I nearly pulled it out!

Free reign sounds AWESOME!

^+1
I too, just want to declare that I really fucking love good food.
I think about food all the time. My friend called me up when walking in Amalfi hills that I said the dirt was like cocoa powder.
I was also harvesting zuccini flowers on this walk (alright, courgette). -

Some mates went to Billingsgate market and bought a shit load of sea food. Had deep fried prawns for the first time. No batter or anything, just straight up prawn, head, tail and all! Delicious. Like scampy popcorn, including bits of shell that get stuck in your teeth. Like this...
Have been giving soda bread a go, too, and made this to have that night.
Kinda like a giant scone :/
