Copper based pans. Worth the dollar? I'm getting a little fucked off with shitty non-stick coatings lasting about a year.
From what I've heard they are brilliant if looked after (I would hang them up) but I'm not sure if they are worth the extra over Le Creuset style pots and pans.
Anyone?

^ Yes please. Keen to invest in some pans in the next week or so. Not really heard that hanging pans is "good" for them - why is this? Or is it simply because you're not stacking them and knocking them against each other over time? Not sure if I'll have solid enough shelves in the kitchen to hang them from.
I was looking at some Le Creuset's in town earlier but at 90 quid a pop I figured I should do some more research.
So my proposal is this - read your answers.

DeBuyer pans are hands down the best frying pans around. We have a couple that are 30 or so years old that we use everyday.
I was given a new one recently and it looks very much like our old ones. -

You hang them so the weight of pans isn't stacked onto the cooking surfaces. Over time this causes problems, and if you're paying out £100-£200 on a pan you would want a lot of years use out of it.
XH, when you say DeBuyer pans are the best and really last, which ones are you talking about? They have a fair range from cheap to very expensive

These are the ones we have. Cheaper than the copper ones but still last a lifetime.
We also used them when i was cooking at Moro. They had been open 12 years and still using the same debuyer pans

Saucepans - Le Creuset is the Rapha of the cuisine. Nice but Pricey. Totally worth it.
Sautee pans - we've had some of the Analon Raymond Blanc pans for about a year and they have been fantastic. Not non-stick, but you just need to season and maintain them.
And invest in some good cooking tools - silicon only for your non-stick stuff and hand wash carefully with the right sponges. Last forever that way.

Eat the flapjack, if they taste bad then you can blame the whey powder. If they taste good then you can claim to be cooking king. -

Nisbet's is one of my favourite stores in London, quality stuff and low prices... I'll go in for just a milk jug or something and come out £50 lighter with a big bag of stuff... ;)

+1 for Nisbets
Copper pans look nice, but I'd recommend Le Bourgeat Tradition stainless saucepans (from Nisbets) which are great. More functional than pretty, but look as they could last forever!
Their nonstick frying pans are ok as well and the coating lasts a long tme.

Nisbets is Shaftesbury Ave just north of Cambridge Circus beside Angels fancy dress. They took over Pages cook shop who used to be on that site.

I take it back, Wahaca's steak burrito is actual sliced medium rare rump steak and not stewed brown meat like the rest of the "steak" burritos in centre of town. Nom.
But are made with currants not raisins.
