i am 67gi atm, going down to 64gi. spin to win. also, i have a 1.5 mile descent from hampstead, i love it. and also, i want to get better at rollaz.

I just think that if you are resonably fit you should be able to accelerate on the flat at 70GI to the point where it is too spinny (120rpm +) to keep it up for a long time comfortably.
you keep up speeds of 24mph for a long time comfortably?
That is more than reasonably fit in my book! -
• #129
hes dreaming, dont worry about it.

38.6 kph? doesnt sound too bad.

yeah, dosent sound too bad, actually doing it be different,
thats why hes talking out of his bottom.

I take offence at your comment. The very suggestion that the british are not using a modern speed measurement :-)

Fucking bull..........sorry mate but I DONT believe you....unless you like to
rock at 10mph......You cant read a door opening on you....what you gonna do
....use your legs...?....Im sick of this wank .....I watch you Brakeless twats and
its just embarassing ....Ive followed a few of you so called messengers.....what a
fucking joke ......so busy "anticipating" you cant go more than 10mph....get a brake
get a life.....MAre you for real?

I'm a bit of a mess with regards to the imperial/metric thing. I use kilometers on bikes, and have all my speedos set to KPH. But I only really have a feeling for MPH when driving.
I ride 48:16 on a undulating 60Km route to my in-law's 'small holding'. I do this near weekly in the summer, and it takes me about 1h 45min, which is 34 kph. I'd be lying if I said I took it easy though ;)

21 and a bit mph, that is very good going. I always struggled to keep to 20mph average and no hope on current 62GI.
Taking it up to almost 24mph is another story with all that exponential wind resistance shit and stuff going on :-)
-
• #137
i ride 46/19, which is perfect for skidding but equally i can still get some pretty high speeds, my top speed being 32.19 MPH.

Watched the cycling on Eurosport last night. The average speed was 42 kph, which makes me suddenly sceptical about my 34 kph claim. I've put a speedo on the fixed now (been roller training on it over winter). So when the snow fecks off I'll make sure ;)

21mph does look a bit on the high side, unless you were in a small hurry.

Do you have brakes on your Campbell Brothers Bonzer? (assuming you own your avatar)
You control a brakeless bike exactly the same as you would a Bonzer in a busy lineup. Reading the conditions and anticipating others actions become second nature and should something unexpected occur you will have the skill/experience to deal with it effectively. If not, then **|³|MA3K **is completely correct.
39/17 for me btw. Never really going fast enough to bother anyone.
Yes its my Bonzer......but its hardly the same thing...I do,however surf with a leash,
and in a crowded line-up it would be irresponsible to surf without one however
skilled I was, cause a loose board belonging to a champion is just as dangerous as
one belonging to a learner.....You cant anticipate the unexpected thats the whole
point........................I cant see why ya'll so pissed at my comments..The core
posters on this site are sure not shy bout spouting the odds.!!...And Im pretty
sure the majority of peeps on this site would agree riding brakeless is a massively
dangerous and twatish.....why dont you do one of your little surveys..?..Peace..M -

Dont patronise me son............Suns out and IM off to R.Park for a couple of
laps......Im not sure Id fancy coming down Test hill without brakes....and yes
I could skid big slow S turns like I would on my SK8 board.....but it would take
up the whole rd be slow and incredibly ineficiant......perhaps a couple of you
brakeless twats fancy coming and doin a few laps..?? see ya there....LOL..M -

madrobar, your perceptions are grounded in your own physical limitations.
Just because you are frightened to or unable to ride without the assurance of a rim brake and would like to dress this up as a public service doesn't mean that people cannot ride their bikes perfectly safely without the addition of a rim brake.
And anybody with half a brain knows that the leash on a surfboard is primarily to stop you having to swim to catch the fucking thing when you've been wiped-out, the safety for other surfers is a secondary benefit.
Your analogies consistently suck.

I miss doing endos.
I don't have very poor pedalling technique, it probably ain't brilliant but ain't poor ... I just think that if you are resonably fit you should be able to accelerate on the flat at 70GI to the point where it is too spinny (120rpm +) to keep it up for a long time comfortably. However it is only a little bit too low and I feel that 72-75 is just right.
I don't like riding @70 on my commute I prefer much lower since I have better acceleration and I get the jump on cars.
