  • I'm not sure about xp2 either, it just feels a bit 'clean' to me.

  • I think if I shoot another roll of it I'm going to push it rather than pull it to get some dutty contrast

  • Two from the Getty Center, Los Angeles, last year. Just had lots of film developed and scanned at 'digitalab': disappointed the low-res scans are 72dpi.

I always go for medium res and ask for tiffs too.

    Absolutely love that 1st shot.

Just dropped 5 rolls off today, it's been too long!

  • Nice weather for shooting most of this weekend!

    Yes yes.

  • I think if I shoot another roll of it I'm going to push it rather than pull it to get some dutty contrast

Can't wait to see the results!

I've got a few rolls of neopan 400 to be processed, it's the same as xp2 right?

  • I'm not sure I'm afraid, is it C41 as well?

  • Yup c41, I've heard that they are/were both made by illford so probably the same stuff.

  • Neopan 400cn is c41 process, regular neopan is normal black and white processing.

  • Ahh so the 400cn is still about but 400 was discontinued.

Does anyone here have experience with the Fuji Klasse W or S?

It seems my compact addiction is getting out of hand. One thing that appeals to me about these is that they should be serviceable for years to come.

  • Klasse is a lovely camera. I have an S. Bit pricey though.

  • Ha, never heard about these. Looking good.
Just read about their "custom functions" - very neat, wish more camera makers would offer stuff like this:

    [INDENT] Hidden functions

Since the camera is supposed for Japan domestic market only, the user manual is also in Japanese only. There are 4 hidden functions which was mentioned on page 70, with the help of translation from my Japanese friend, this is how to access into the hidden functions and what about of them :

                   To access :

Turn on the camera by pressing and holding the top of function dial at the same time.

                   Hidden functions C1 to C4 are :

C1 : On - Remember flash mode setting after camera switch off and on
C1 : Off - Flash mode setting will restore to default ( auto ) after camera switch off and on

                   C2 : On - Keep self-timer setting after shots

    C2 : Off - Self-timer will restore to default ( off ) after shots

C3 : On - The leading edge of film will be remained outside after auto rewinding
C3 : Off - The leading edge of film will be rewinded all the way inside the film can.

C4 : On - Lens movement carries out only when full press of the shutter.

C4 : Off - Lens movement carries out when half press of the shutter.

  • Really looking like the right one for me, found one brand new for £300 and free shipping, although I'll lovely get stung with import.

Believe it or not there is an English manual out there :)

It does look to have lots of hidden features and even GR1s are getting near that price now.

  • Been a couple of years since I've shot any film, bar a couple of rolls here and there, taken from the tub of expired film in the fridge. Starting to take stock now ahead of a forthcoming trip to the Canadian wilds, and somehow high street price for decent 135 film is £10!

Anyone got any links (except for the obvious ebay etc) for cheap/expired film?

Will consider taking medium format if 120 film shows itself to have remained cheaper per frame.

Don't have any photos to post, but there's some old'uns here...

    thanks!

  • If it gets held its worth calling parcel force as soon as it clears.

When I got my pentax 645 from japan it cost me about £70 (got valued at about £200) in customs charges, but I'd been tracking it online so as soon as they'd charged parcel force and paid over the phone rather than wait for them to send me a letter saying I'd been charged.

It meant I got it a few days sooner, which was perfect because I'm a child that can't wait for things

  • What labs do people in London use for developing? My mate had a bad time with The Darkroom and is looking for somewhere else.

Hey, film can be had cheap if you look out for it, even the decent stuff.

Ektar 100 can be had for under a fiver in central london, portra for around £8.

Head to poundland for mega cheap vista plus, I've had no problems using this and for only £1 per 24 exposure roll it's worth having some lying about, if you want some and don't have a poundland local then lemme know.

Since I got the medium format camera I've been taking everything to rapid eye in shoreditch

Nice people, they seem like they know what they're doing and have a tendency to give random discounts

  • Cheers, remember a lot of people mentioning them. Will point him in their direction.

  • Picked up a Nikon 35Ti ages ago and finally got around to developing some pics.
    do these look under-exposed?

  • some more test shots with the Nikon 35Ti

oh man these are nice, i have some film from my trip to here in june/july that i still need to develop, i think seeing these has given me the right kick up the arse to sort it as i absolutely loved this building spent a fair while just walking around it and taking photos.

  • Really like the b & w ones, I think the levels are fine.

  • The whites look white.
    Levels are nice.
    I really like em

  • @HPx93, it's pretty hard to take a bad photo there. I love these modernist, campus buildings. I have other shots of the place but it's photographed so much that some compositions almost look clichéd. For me, the monorail entrance is the only original feature that remains futuristic. I loved it.
