  • Send it freepost to Ag photographic

  • Cheers, will do!

Is the low res scan totally useless?

  • Lowres is fine for facederp. Medium res if you might print it one day or want to pixel peep. Highres is diminishing returns.

  • So the question is, where's a good spot in London to go get this shit processed in good quality. I've been out of the loop for a while since processing my own stuff. I have no darkness or fume free zone anymore so must rely on the fine London offerings.

  • Ag-photolab bought metro... Just sayin'.

  • Okay, Just bought a lovely Olympus OM2n and a couple of lenses. A 28mm and a 50mm.

The 50mm has a lot of noticeable fungus, something I've not had to deal with before. Is this easily fixable, or is it not worth it (the fungus is all the way around the front part of the lens, and a little inside)?

    click for bigger image:

  • Will that make a different to photos in real life use?

  • Fungus isn't fixable generally - the fungus actually eats the coating of the lens element.

You can try disassembling it to remove it and hope it hasn't damaged the coating too badly

As to whether it will impact the usage - it depends on which elements have suffered (generally speaking the elements closer to the rear of the lens will have more of an obvious effect on image quality)

Given that its only a 1.8, its probably simplest to pick up a fungus free replacement

  • Doesn't seem to at the moment, although I've not had any film from it processed yet.

Could it get worse to the point where it does make a difference, or is it something I really shouldn't be worrying about?

It was only a £25 lens. Yeah, probably best to just replace if it seems to affect the image too much.

Thanks! I'll post up some shots with it once developed.

  • If kept in warm humid conditions its likely to get worse pretty quickly:

Bloody hell! £11 quid for a (granted) 3hr process for B&W. Wtf! Sending away to AG.

  • Was hoping to share some photos from the film I got back today but there isn't really much worth posting :(

  • Get it up

  • Ok here are a few, first off the grainy ones from the C35AF on some dodgy superia 200
I bought on holiday stored in a warm room for years.

Sorry for taking up most of the page.

  • First one is proper nice. That the Ricoh?

  • Nope that's the konica.

Really pleased with it, cost me a fiver down portobello market, just has a habit of focusing to infinity when it's not sure what to do.

Haven't been able to get the ricoh repaired yet unfortunately, that will be my next spend though.

  • Dude, you're far too harsh on yourself, they're fantastic pics. You've got an awesome eye for spotting detail and symmetry. You're playing straight up with 4/3 rules. I like drinking then sexing followed by snacking.

    1. Is that Edgware Road off in the distance?
    2. Where abouts in Portobello? I want a cheap compact after mine fell off a fairground ride.
  • Thanks Chak!

You mean the station pic or the one of buildings?

The train was actually at gatwick airport and the buildings are around portland place.

The camera was just from a stall at portobello market, it's well worth heading down for a couple of hours on a saturday morning, when I went there were plenty of 35mm compacts, SLR's and rangefinders for tuppence.

  • They are nice. 2 and 5 (from your 2nd post) I like the most.

    Sort of playing with surfaces...

  • Olympus OM 20 with motor wind and additional OM135 lens - worth the time to clean and fit new seals?

    • Anyone ?
  • They're not an incredibly out of this world camera but I was very happy using mine. Ultimately only you know if it's worth the hassle.

  • ok thanks - I'll probably give it a go once the weather turns too cold/wet to play outside.

  • Also, some great snaps there indra.
