  • Just catching up on this thread (slow day at work). Glad to see the standard is as cracking as ever! Some of you guys really just keep smashing it.

Had a bit of a Tumblr dump recently but the only one I'm particularly happy with is this'un (thanks for the props before, nefarious - didn't know how to reply ta!)

    Horses are rad.

The rest of it is here ohsnayup.tumblr.com

  • Wow, proper good

  • Blimey, wish i'd taken that.

  • Fanks, guysh. I was having dilemmas (if you can call them that) choosing between the one above and the one attached. Still not sure which I prefer. I went for the one above because I somehow managed to get the horse to look at me as the shutters were going down (I totally didn't shout out "yo, horsey" in a panic...) but I like the full arch and light on the doors on the second. Which do you prefer? Sorry, don't mean to make this about me. Genuinely interested in a bit of feedback.

  • For me I feel like the first is a stronger photo, everything leads the eye to the horse (and as a bonus it's looking back along that at the camera) and the extra height and shape of the arch takes away from that in the other one. Maybe also because the opening in the first looks pretty much 3:2 same as the whole picture.

    ps i hate horses :c

  • agree, right choice made

  • Love that Wools!

  • First one.
    SO so perfect mate.

  • First one is better - still can't get over that shot. Surreal.

  • How can you hate horses?? They are majestic as fook!

Thanks for the kind words, guys. I'm happy with it but it was pure fucking luck. Walked by the police stables in Hyde Park at the right time and had forgiving film in a camera that does all the work for you. Plus I may have cropped it ever so slightly in Lightroom as it was a bit wonky... Basically I learnt absolutely nothing of value from the experience to make me a better photographer! :)

Has anyone seen any good exhibitions recently or have any recommendations? I saw Lartigue at the Photographers' Gallery. Fucking epic. I need a Nettel 6 x 13 camera in my life. And a playboy lifestyle. Has anyone seen Only in England yet?

  • Getting big Lartigue vibes from these by the way!

  • How can you hate horses?? They are majestic as fook!

    Some people are staunchly anti-royalist.

  • (Switzerland)

I can feel the cold in my hand! I'm there.

Reminds me to get my OM1 serviced.

  • Would anybody be interested in swapping some 120 film? I've got 15 rolls of slide(90% Provia 400x), would be looking for colour neg/black and white.

  • Got a few Portra 400 (very slightly out of date but works perfectly fine) I'd swap. Def for some provia.

  • Selling my Ricoh GR1. Head over to classifieds

  • Got a few Portra 400 (very slightly out of date but works perfectly fine) I'd swap. Def for some provia.

    Cool, 3?

The provia is actually 18 months expired but was kept in a fridge for its whole life, apart from the last few. Will pm you in a bit

  • That's really nice!

Could do with a touch of straightening and removing dust but that's neither here nor there.

    Camera/film?

  • Love the reflection. Can't decide if it bugs me that the angles are different, good stuff

  • Cheers, perfect little place for photography that. Didn't even really notice/think about the angles, i'll have a look.

T-Max 400 in a Yashica-Mat, it's way sharper than the crappy scan shows.

  • Can't remember whether the last brainstorming on camera bags was in here, or in the digital thread.

Anyways, check out new lowe pro messenger bags. I think they're in the same league with domke, and they look pretty cool.

  • I kind of agree on the angle but it's still super nice. I quite fancy me a Yashica-Mat. Or absolutely anything Yashica for that matter...

So, I say this with a heavy heart, but I think I've definitely decided to get rid of my Voigtlander Bessa R3A and Nokton 40. It's really lovely but it takes me too long to frame any shot (I wear glasses). I thought I would manage but it's just a bit too fiddly for my liking and, as a result, it never comes out with me. le sad face If anyone's interested drop me a PM and let's talk. Happy to split and will consider PX. Not sure what I want/need but I'm sure my brain will make the relevant excuses/justifications if something tasty comes along. :) I'm also going to shift my XA and Yashica Lynx 14e as the only camera that consistently makes it out with me is my T5. Again, same PX terms apply. Just drop me a line.

  • Ballpark for the Lynx?

  • expired kodak gold & fuji superia. should have my hands on a plustek 8100 scanner in the near future, will see how that improves things.

Manc, L'pool, London, Chester, Lancs & Chernobyl/Pripyat. more b&w when I've figured out how to scan it.
