  • From a quarry down in Dorset

    Few more here

Seems like they've sharpened the jpg's halfway to oblivion when scanning them... really want my own proper one to see how much difference it makes

  • Some great shots in there... walking along the South West Coast Path I see. I have a few from the same area.

I have one of these that I got from my granddad many years ago that I would like to start using again, I have ordered some batteries for it, but I have misplaced the lens, so anyone got any ideas where to start? Would be for taking out on some longer rides so something 'standard' fairly wide, 50mm would come up wider than it did on my 20D right? or should i look at something that starts a little lower?

Also not sure where to start with what film to buy..

  • Yes, 50mm will come up 'normally' - like 50mm - on the EOS700 (it came up 'narrower', like 80mm, on your 20D).

What you need for the EOS700 is a Canon 'EF' lens (not 'EF-S').
You will find lots of them on the internet or in shops.
Focal lenght is really a question of what you want to do and how much you can spend.
If you want something 'standard / fairly wide' I'd suggest a 40mm. I like this one for example.
    Consider a zoom also?

As for film, decide on colour or b/w, and think about how much you'd like to spend per roll,
look at other people's pictures and find a film which 'look' or colours you like and try that.

  • Thanks Tina,

I was going to go for astandard prime because I know i have the zoom lens somewhere... its just lost in my parents house (the 35-80 one)

I'll look at film now! deffo colour

  • Portra 160 or 400?... Summer's coming so 160 makes sense. Though 400 is very handy for indoor stuff... but as my T2 only goes up to 1/500 it's tricky on a bright summer day. Questions questions questions.

  • A crude mockup, but they do indeed match hoefla.

Prints available if anyone wants one.

    works really well

  • These last 2 pages are too sick.

Congrats everyone on being great and that.

  • Test roll on an Olympus 35rc that I found NOS in its box from a cam shop in Durban, SA
Film is ilford fp4+ 125, shot/devved at 100iso, Rodinol 1:50, and it expired probably 10 years ago, at least! Fp4 is normally pretty smooth. Also light seals were pretty crusty hence the leaky milk effect going on in some of them. Haven't corrected anything as literally CBA'd booting up LR.

Walk with the dogs brought up some lakeland landscapes on a frosty winters morning...

Random around Newcastle/Glasgow these were all scanned at something pretty low and dirty as its a test roll and CBA'd!

  • Leeds/Liverpool/Paris. Fuji Reala/Kodak Gold/Fuji Neopan.

  • ^ cool shots Gone.

@ Brickman quite like the washed out grainy look of the fp4 on mountains, I recently got a roll of fp4 expired 1990 from some junk shop, hopefully it's as usable as yours.

Went to Iceland recently, brought along the 6x4.5. This one from the top of some hill overlooking some sulphuric vents, light leak and all.

Film is foma 100, did a little experiment devved it in xtol 1:2 spiked with a touch of rodinal for the last 3 minutes. bit risky but it turned out alright.

  • niiiice

  • woah. need to learn to dev my own B&W.

  • Kolor, that is simply stunning!

  • Any one suggest a good camera maintenance place, just got a Olympus rc that i would like to get cleaned and give a service.

  • Sendean Cameras - first page on the thread. Or maybe Mr.Cad.

This blog is blowing my mind.

  • ^^ta.

  • ^^ Fuckers like these really grates me. Lots of travels and interesting takes on home turf, beautiful colours and clever shots. Just what I'm trying to do. But better. Fuckers.

  • Mamiya RB67, either Provia 400, 100 or Velvia 100 - can't work out what's what.

Some more on http://imdabestmayne.tumblr.com as usual.

yeah that is some serious leakage!

I never try new dev mixes on anything taken more than 20miles from home :p

all the portrait shots have posted too large, not quite sure how to rectify?

  • Taken with a pinhole strapped to the front of my bike.
