  • Boats on the horizon makes this! Really nice - as Oliver say's - a really desolate place

  • How about flipping that one horizontally,
and then rotating it a tad ccw?

  • Comme ça?

  • works too?

Had it been a digital shot I wouldn't have mind working on it a bit, but as it's film I tend to leave them pretty much as they come back from the shop. Might fix levels and colour balance a bit, but not much at all.

(weird to see my shot being discussed like this, but very nice, thanks all for the kind words!)

    Why?

  • any suggestions for a reasonable/ cheap hire studio in east london?

  • Fecking huge!

  • M7 i'm lusting after one of those or a M6 TTL. One day like!

Love the feel you get from film in pictures

  • Why?

    Rotating because it's looks tilted,
flipping because it looks more 'stable' that way,
and it's more pleasant to 'enter' the picture (as most of us are used to reading from left to right).

I understand the hesistation to mess around with it since it's analogue though.

Interesting point! Though I'd counter argue that it's nicer to 'end' the picture on the sea, making it feel more open. (?)

  • More 'open', yes.

    I don't know whether that's a good thing.
I like to have something on the right side that 'bounces' my eyes back into the picture,
you know, otherwise you 'drift out' to easily.

  • Ended up buying a speed graphic the other day after a few drinks, really hoping I don't regret this when it arrives.

    Anybody used/using one?

A guy I know in uni did exactly the same thing, we used it for a few things it was good but not as good as a full sized bellows kit. .

    Yeah, I regret it.

  • by you?

I wish! I'd be too busy tending to my own tackle

    chortle

  • Found an EOS1000 that belongs to my dad. Not sure it's working but I assume so, it just needs a new battery. It has a Sigma 24-70mm lens.

Worth a punt on a battery?

  • Yeah, I regret it.

ahh shit sorry to hear that

    Yep, certainly worth a try.

Sounds like a decent camera according to camerapedia:

"Known as the Rebel S(II) in the US, the Canon EOS 1000 dating from 1991-93 is a "prosumer" 35mm film SLR with auto-focus and auto-exposure. It was made in Taiwan. There are a range of automatic, manual and scene modes: Fully manual; Fully automatic; Sports, people, animals, landscapes and macro. Self-timer (12 seconds) can play a choice of music instead of a beeping countdown. Available in N (new), F (integral flash) and FN (new flash) variants. It utilizes lenses with the EOS EF mount."

    music!

  • Hah!

Well I ordered a battery off ebay last night, so will see if it's working. I'll let you know about this music thing

    #suspicious

  • Just got a roll back that I have barely any recollection of shooting, it's from a big night out. Some good ones from the walk back home in there, good to see i didn't waste the whole roll on random crowd...

God, I need to leave my camera at home when on the piss. So many wasted rolls of good film. Pissed me isn't a good photographer!

    Get them posted!

  • Sometimes wasted rolls are good. I love looking at them in the darkroom and laughing to myself.

(most of them I'd never waste paper on though!)

Although one of my favourite pictures of my wife I have little memory of taking - we we're both intoxicated at the time.

  • A few from a couple of rolls I had done recently. All Yashica T5 on cheapo Kodak.

The reality is that I'm not going to stop doing it, because for all the wasted rolls, you'll still get a few shots here and there that make it worth it (although it's often hard to feel that way when you get back a waste roll!).

  • Wools, those are sick. Last 3 especially.
