  • scan place would very great. but i live almost in Scotland ;)

Is it already developed? A guy I know rates http://www.digitalab.co.uk/ in Newcastle, but they seem a bit expensive for scans alone. Dev + Scan seems reasonable though!

  • does anyone have any broken 120 medium format cameras (or bits of) I can have for DIY parts? toy or box, simple stuff would be good.

  • Lovely Mamiya RB67 50mm f4.5 wide-angle lens. Big, heavy, beautiful thing, that weighs more than many/most 35mm cameras, even with lenses attached. It has fungus due to the c*nt that had stored it for me, having put that particular lens in a wet and dark place. It has bad fungus now, so can only be a paper-weight, or whatever. Yours for the price of air that we breathe.

Or anyone actually, wanting a lovely, very handsome paperweight.

  • good lord, wow. it can't be cleaned?

I have no idea what I would do with such a thing, but will happily take it off your hands. unless anyone else wants a go...

Yeah they do medium res scans only if it's a dev+scan job, and high res scans are priced as single frames. They are good though and may give you a discounted rate if you are getting loads done at once.

I'll give it a bash at cleaning, but my belief is that its possibly too ingrained. I'm very pessimistic that it can be recovered, but I shall report back when I return to the UK. I shall keep you posted.

  • depends where the fungus is worst, if it on the front elements then it may not affect IQ too much, the rear is likely to be a problem.

The problem with fungus is that it can etch the lens coating, so even after removing it there is still damage.

Worth a shot cleaning it - although if its a focal plane shutter it will be a pain to put back together....

  • any defunct Dianas, hard-up Holgas or broken Brownies about?

also does anyone have/use an Agfa Clack? I keep seeing them about, and... they're cute. Not quite justification to acquire one, but almost.

  • Ga2g l.ll take it if you can post to the northern wasteland.

have a friend with an rb67 that us in need of a bday present!

some fungus you can get out and still have a reasonable lens. but often vying the time its bad enough to show in pics its too late and its eaten the coating and into the glass. :(

  • Hf. I've got a few box type cameras floating about. 1 I've used and has quite a good little lens think its an ensign

  • the lens can be cleaned, it's not cheap but it's doable.

  • any defunct Dianas, hard-up Holgas or broken Brownies about?

    Yup, PMed.

(It's stating the obvious but) Look in Charity shops and junk stores. I was in Norwich at the weekend and one place had at least a handful of Brownies. I bought a Polaroid 'The Button' for £1 at a Charity shop and my girlfriend bought me a plastic fantastic Kodak 127 for about £2.

I'll have a look to see if its possible for it to be redeemed, but if not, I'll send it to you. No problem.

By the way, GA2G is in capitals because its an abbreviation of 2 place names, from the country of which I am very proud, and originate from. If its too long, then GA will be fine and dandy also.

  • ^ I always see that kind of camera at car boot sales too, usually for less than a fiver.

Anyway. I have a Brownie 127 converted to run 35mm film. I'm waiting for Hoefla to respond - otherwise, does anyone else want it? Just for cost of postage - say £3. I'm trying to clear out my collection and I already have two box cameras, so this one's gotta go!

Took the following picture with it:

  • That picture is lovely ^

  • Thanks - only picture on the roll that came out, since the twats at Jessops said "Yeah we'll cut them by hand" and then afterwards "No, it's impossible to cut by hand, the machine does them" after slicing all the other exposures in half.

I don't go there any more. It's the cheapest way to ruin your negatives.

  • Torture. I got some unknown rolls developed(no scans/prints) by asda and they didnt cut my negatives, might be handy for future experiments.

Quality isn't there obviously but it's very cheap.

  • Might be an idea for testing future cameras, thanks.

What's it called when your exposures aren't spaced evenly on the negative and the prints come out with a bit of the next photo on them? And how do you fix it?

  • Hey lae, i'll take it! On phone at the mo but will pm when i get in. Charity shops round here tend to have working cameras. I'm really just seeing if there are any that i can butcher, i'd feel bad doing that to a working camera. (so yours will probably stay intact for now!). Just started thinking about some contraptions to make... But they might not make it out of my brain anyway.

  • All images are on good old HP5 taken on a Practika LTL.

Pretty quick scans at home so not the best quality uploads.

  • ^ I used to have some of that wallpaper (lauraashleymethinks). Nice pictures.

  • That portrait is lovely.
