  • ha, you got no chance today :)
and who the F! is 31trAm???

  • ...your online (but un-registered) alter-ego?

  • Veloflex? Or, if you can find them, Deda Tre Olimpicos?

I've heard veloflex are not durable at all...

  • they are race tyres, max grip

  • i paid 33 quid for my soma everwear, think it was worth every penny

Is the Soma tyre the same height/profile as a normal 23c tyre?

Guessing it should be as it is 23c but wondering where all the rubber goes (presumably on the inside making less room for tube than outside and making tyre larger?)

  • i think the everwears are 5mm higher but same width.

  • i think the everwears are 5mm higher but same width.

Cheers. So from the side it would look like a 28 and need clearances for a 28 (not much of a problem on the rear anyway)

  • Re-structured, and a lighter-weight/race tyre section is added.

  • nice work GA2G, what would we do without you,

  • i think though you should take the vittoria rubino out of the " designed as puncture resistant" because they are god damn most awsul tyres ever..... pouncture after punctre...

Using Rubino front and rear i had 2 punctures in one day, 1 the next and 1 the next day, then i had enough and changed quickly to Marathon Plus and no pucture ever since.
that was a long time ago.

  • What's the best shop I can go into and actually look at a bunch of these tires in the same place? I've kinda got confused what with all the anecdotes about not having punctures and having punctures and so on...

  • thats a good question.... :D
    maxxis refuse
    stelvio plus

    are unbeatable performance...
but expensive if u skid your tyres...
but excellent if you don't skid like me
    they last ages.

2 puncture in one days doesn't necessary mean the tyres is very weak, could be the 2nd time was in the same place.

  • Stelvio plus is great, I ride 75-100 miles a week brakeless, since October 2008 it still going strong despite obvious wear from skidding.

  • rubino's as far as i could see had no puncture resistance in them at all...
they are completely an utterly awful.

they are good for the money and a pretty puncture resistant. you can get 4 for the price of a marathon. although i've moved on to the radonneurs as they have way more rubber, but still cheap at £11.50 and don't weigh a tonne.

i swear it's people not tyres when it comes to punctures. here's a tip, don't ride through glass and pump you tyres up.

  • It's annoying that the Radonneurs don't come in 25mm....

  • tell me about it. Got an old Condor with tubeless tyres and ive f ing been through three tyres in the past fortnight and im sure i havent been through glass or over a burning pit of sharp little metal porcupines.

the wheels, i think, are coming to an end anyway.

    width is about 23/25.
height is 28. hence the extra rubber/grip

  • Oh.. perhaps one should give them a try then... thanks for the tip.

  • thought the same, didn't think they would fit in my stays.

  • they are designed for a 28 rim, so actually thin on narrow rim. 32's even look thin.

Wow that is very cheap for tyres! but I think they're called snickers now.

  • thing is, glass is everywhere on London's roads.
Avoiding it *all *the time is impossible.
hence why Rubinos suck, cos one shard rips it straight.
Fact is im still pisssed off about the Rubinos i had, so i might be a little biased.

  • What about the Continental Security? my Schwalbe Stelvio Plus finally gave in by a very tiny glass that managed to get it's way into the tyres, I can't find the Continental Top Contact as my LBS don't stock them but saw a Continental Security which look pretty similar to the Top Contact.
