Fucking sweet tynan. I sort of did something similar last year, but i just bought some EL wire off ebay and wrapped it around my seatpost, it looked kinda shit and it wasn't very bright!

My (in need or repair) bike bag is already strew with electroluminescent wire, I think the wire would be a better option for Scotttt, as you can sew it in as a trim, you can even get it as a wire with a lip running along it specifically to be sewn into material.

Impressive, Tynan. Seeing the tape makes me tempted to wrap my bars in it and then with clear bar tape over the top.

It has got me + my chemist friends thinking. I think the next step is full on chemiluminescence....
Or GFP maybe.
Basically, EL is one thing, but I think we can do away with the wires.....
But i fscking love this idea, and am a bit bored of revision, so thinking up some ideas....

If you are not getting enough light out ramp up the power, mutr.co.uk/ sell 9V inverters that make the EL wire much much brighter than a standard inverter, I think they are around £7 - also surelight now do an ultra-bright El wire which is brighter (you might have guessed that from the name!)

The wire is great stuff, I've got meters of the stuff, what colour did you send him, did you send him the stuff with the lip built in and do you want to buy an inverter from me !! :)

He tried to get hold of the stuff with the lip at the time but couldnt, I ended up sending him some pink stuff, that already had the power pack at the end. Although there was a fuck load of extra wire that was on the end of the actualy El that was rather annoying,

Extra wire is no problem as you simply just snip off what you don't need, as the wire gets shorter it get's brighter (up to a certain threshold).

[EDIT] I just realised you probably meant loads of extra non-EL wire leading from from the powerbox to the start of the EL wire proper ?

You could also reduce that fairly easily.
