  • Forecast for a thunderstorm later like

  • Headed out, made it as far as the Freemans Hospital and the heavens opened, completely soaked within 2minutes. Decided to sack of the country run and head up to the angel in the hope that the sun would come out and dry me off, it did, the ride back through Low Fell is awesome, super fast.

  • Good craic... I don't know whether you got my text (not sure if I wrote the number down wrong) but if you fancy a country jaunt some other time, give me a shout. I need some outdoor training if I'm going to do this paris ride!

  • Yeah I got it, I keep meaning to get out on proper rides so a few people to ride with will actually mean I get out on rides. I'll keep you posed when I'm next heading out

  • Anyone out for a wee ride tonight/now?

  • Just been a proper quality burn about town for a few hours, will def have to get on a beers ride soon - forgot how much fun it is riding for riding's sake!

Am I right in thinking it says 'Suited Hero'?

  • I want to find out what 'B' is... it looks amazing!

    MAP

  • It's a disused Airfield.

  • it's ouston airfield.

    more about it here

  • So i'm guessing by "The site was taken over by the Army shortly afterwards and forms part of Albemarle Barracks" I can't go riding on it then?

  • Possibly not, found this on Wiki.
    Ouston today

RAF Ouston is now Albemarle Barracks and home of 39th Regiment Royal Artillery, the runway area is used by the police for driver training. It is also reported that C-130 Hercules have occasionally landed there. Many of the World War II buildings survive.
Since the 1980s Albemarle has often been used as a stop off point for nuclear warheads convoys on route via road between RNAS Coulport and AWE Aldermaston as part of the UK Trident programme. There is a secure compound located on one of the former runways to keep convoys overnight when required.[1]

  • makes it sound all the more exciting!

    I'll be doing this.

Guessing it is being done by the guys who did animal alleycat? Where did you get a flyer?

  • so is anyone going tonight?

  • I got drunk after my final uni hand in so no. Probably too late to be saying this now.

  • it was pretty decent really, me and tristan won

  • Nice one! I was going to but it was pissing it down so decided to go to the pub.

  • the gig at the cumberland afterwards was also amazing, they played johnney cash and some jungle book tunes into a bluegrass style.
    rad.
the circumstances of mine and phils victory were also mint. we did all the checkpoints in town, cycled to the cumberland arms (the finish line), got informed that we missed one, cycled back to monument, and back to the pub, and still won.
