Montane Atomic in DT fabric - lightweight fully featured multi-activity jacket - very compact, packs down into a mesh bag the size of a grapefruit, breathable, reflective bits, droptail
Rate most Montane products very highly
Or Paramo Velez Adventure Light smock (very warm) or Paramo Quito lightweight jacket

Very breathable and very waterproof.

Lacking in rear pockets although its designed for MTBing so not a major issue. Bellows in the back so it will fit over a pack, hole for hydration pipe. Very light and packs up small. They do similar versions in the same material but more road specific.
Very satisfied and will be buying more Mavic goodies.

i need something for winter riding. while i want the rapha stowaway, i don't want it's price.
i like the look of the price point for the polaris pbk neutron and a craft performance.are they "good" or are they at that price for a reason? is it buy cheap buy twice in full effect?

i treated my self to the LFG all weather jacket, so far, feels well made its fully water proof breathable, (not the coated membrain stuff that always peals off from wearing a bag)and good vents, looks ace. i know its expensive and my only critisisum so far is that the draw strings on the jacket feel a little light weight. but so far very pleased with it. but it puts a hole in ya wallet!

I have a montaine featherlight and it's more a wind braker
The Rapha throwaway is slightly more shower resistant
The Rapha rain jacket is great for fixie skidding around town and if you have a bag on top.
As with any rain coat it would be excessive on a road ride where my rate of perspiration would mean I'd get wet from the inside if I put it on during a downpour.

My current combo ain't too bad:
This one in black: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=32191
And if it rains, this one fits in the pocket: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=52006
Slightly pissed off that I managed to stain the rain jacket with tar from the boat on the Dunwich pebble beach, which I haven't been able to get off entirely.

Just took delivery of my "around town" waterproof jacket.
http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/cycle/7/dhb_Southsea_Waterproof_Cycling_Jacket/5360043768/
£48 not to bad and the fit is nice. It looks like a normal jacket. It's not going to be overly breathable but does look very waterproof. I'd say good for cruising around in the wet, but not hard riding. I guess I'll find out in a few days how it performs.

Mavic is now part of Adidas
Mavic hasn't been owned by adidas for 5 and a bit years, since adidas-Salomon broke up and Salomon, Mavic and loads of other brands were sold to Amer sports.
However Mavic had been licensing the adidas brand for use on their softgoods for a while but this came to an end in 2008, which is why Mavic stuff is now branded Mavic again
Not that anyone really cares.

Now that looks like what i'm after. I want something for my short commute/leisure rides in winter. anyone else tried one? Any sizeing issues I'm a 38" chest and about to order a medium.EDIT: done. got a feeling from the size chart and comments it might come up a tad big but better that than my fatty-back poking out of a small.

Hmmm, been tossing up between two jackets for ages now and wondered if anyone has some experiece with either.
Montane Halo Stretch Jacket
http://www.montane.co.uk/products/men/shell/halo-stretch-jacket/270Berghaus Yala Peak
http://store.berghaus.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product8_11201_10252_4-33991_-1_Mens%5EClothing%5EWaterproofs_Mens_My main priority is for the jacket to be windproof as this is the main cause for my discomfort when riding in cold weather. However, I'm a serious sweater so breathability is equally as important. I think I'm edging toward the Montane, advice would be welcome.

Not had experience with either of those, but +1 getting a climbers jacket. My Marmot windproof is very snug in all weather, packs up small and is good for the bike and climbing.

+1 to that to, I have a RAB make out of Event material, really happy with it
personally, I ould choose the one made with Event fabric, it is easier to look after and will last longer

^^ Nice, Rab stuff looks like the one. Will be going to try on somewhere...

Anybody tried this btwin jacket?
I'm looking for a jacket for winter that can cope with up to -20 and whilst I have tried it on in the shop and it seems very nice, I'm not sure how well it would actually perform.
My current coat is thick and uncomfortable on the road as I just sweat heavily inside it and then have to put it on wet when I leave work.
Unfortunately decathlon is the only good place I can find near me which has winter jackets in stock. -

I bought one of these http://www.rohan.co.uk/Product/Detail/MensRiderRange_03245?ocode=03245688 a while ago, and I love it. Survived two crashes without a mark, completely waterproof and extraordinarily breathable, which you really notice at this time of year, and it folds up real small

My Berghaus RG1(I think) survived about 5 years, stuffed in bags, worn with heavy rucksack / messenger bags, etc. It's not a cycling jacket but I don't really need a bum pocket, much prefer hand pockets for when off the bike. The back goes low enough too.
