yeah i'm not going to get drawn on the value equation. no doubt there's a ton of cheaper jackets that would perform well enough.
and i can't give any personal testimony to the performance either, not being an arctic ultramarathon runner myself.
but if you have a gear problem this is an opportunity to get a piece of kit usually out of the realms of possibility so i wanted to share.

I am firmly in the "If you get wet, you get wet" camp.
Either I am cycling somewhere and will have a change of clothes for arrival in my bag, or I am cycling home and it doesn't matter. -

agree with the riding home bit. Not when I'm riding to work. Or to an interview. Or to do whatever where I can't get changed.

They're not very waterproof, I reckon the H2O isn't even that waterproof, it doesn't leak through the seams, water just comes through the fabric. Alright in a tight spot but I wouldn't buy another.

Can anyone comment on the Light Textran™ fabric in the Campagnolo waterproofs?
I have to admit that it's mainly the look and the slim cut that has me interested in these – and they are on sale in Wiggle for £85.
I am told the fabric is slightly flexible, which is a massive plus, but it's got to be more breathable than my current GoreTex for there to be any point in switching. -

I usually end up being wet as it doesn't seem the be particularly breathable but even in the very worst weather, I'm always comfortable in it.

Hi All ,
Am looking for a Jan Sales purchase of a decent quality Goretex Jacket. Looking for one with a tough outer layer ( when you feel it it feels rougher / harder than a softshell ) that can take the occasional scuff against a hard granite cornice or a slide down a rough limestone gryke.
Berghaus / Arcerytx / Haglofs / Marmot / Patagonia / ME / anyothers you might suggest.
It must be able to cope with Cumbrian rain whilst walking the Lake District, must be able to be packed down time after time without loosing its integrityBudget £200 mark could go a bit higher for something out of this world. Ideally looking for a £400 jacket in the sales at 50% off.
Hit me with your OT suggestions

Got a Lowe alpine jacket from outdoorkit.com few years ago at half price. They tend to have good prices on 3 layer hard shells. Maybe this? http://www.outdoorkit.co.uk/product.php?product_id=11499&category_id=319

hm, they seam to be expensive just for the sake of being expensive. not because of the fabric.
schoeller c-change gets mixed reviews.
