I think it should be a good night. I will let you know closer to the day if anything at all is needed. i would suggest that you bring your own beverages should you wish anything particular with your meal other than water..
I start reading tonight!
I think everyone should pick two /three books titles and brief descriptions and we should then make up the list of which we will read over the next few months. That way everyone is going to be influencing eachother with at least one book ;) -

Well if it's Hemmingway then really we should drink Mojitos.
Ya know, for historical accuracy.
And stuff....

I agree - ensuring that everyone suggests at least one book will give us a broader scope and hopefuly get us out of any reading ruts we may be in.

chris, I havent read enough hemmingway to know if you're being funny or serious ;S

Hemmingway spent a lot of time in Cuba and was fond of the odd Mojito as the cause of and a cure for his hangovers.
And I like Mojitos.

a farewell to arms is all about italian red wine, cognac and brandy. alcohol is a recurring theme in all his books. i think i'll start reading tonight, looking forward to it. the list is a great idea. :)

To express my love for my favorite book, I've got a Nineteen Eighty-Four mug. You don't love a book until you've got the mug.

Jamie's book shelf disapointed me last night... but ebay didn't. I got "fairwell" and "movable feast" for £5.
I would also like to put my choices forward for other books to consider - some of you may have read them already but they are from my list of "should, but haven't read yet"- Lolita
- The Great Gastby
- Catch 22
- Lolita
