  • It looks like everyone is on 29er's now. Oh how things change. Looks like a cracking course. Are we allowed to go on it once the games have finished?

  • Are we allowed to go on it once the games have finished?

Can't find a definitive answer to that. It's built on a farm owned by the Salvation Army.

  • After the Games

Essex County Council and The Salvation Army are committed to delivering a lasting legacy at Hadleigh Farm following the London 2012 Games.

Legacy proposals are being developed that ensure the needs of both the local community and the wider area are met.

In theory... yes, the course in some form should be available for use.

  • I think they'll need medical services nearby if the public are to use it. Some of those fast rocky descents could be messy.

  • Yeah. Really fancy a go on it.

Actually loving boardman's commentary here too. Tyre pressures, weight of paint etc - full bike nerdiness.

Yep, it wouldn't take much of a spill to break something.

  • Chris is talking some bollocks about 29s prolly because.he dosent sell em.
Anyway, has the UK girl rinsed it?

  • Hehe.

I thought that earlier re: 29ers. Almost ranted on here... but what good would that do!

  • MD - interesting your comments about kung fu, boxers routinely 'thumb' eyes and you keep your chin down for good reason, infighting though with someone who knows how to throw could definitely be problematic for a boxer.

Some of the fun stuff we do, is box two people at the same time, box with your eyes closed, spin on the spot until dizzy and then box

Boxing is hard on the body. All our boxers suffer with injuries myself included. When I got too old to spa then I think it would be good to take up Kung Fu or perhaps Jeet Kune Do.

It tickles me the idea being an old man that can do Kung Fu

Kung Fu is good, keeps you fit, but flexibility is needed to be able to do kicks etc...

I know boxers can be dirty, but once on the inside, a lot are very square on which is a hell of a lot easier to drop someone to the floor than if they had a stance. Also a boxer tends to lift his chin up once he tries to create distance, and it's very common from what I see.

Where are you based? Sounds like fun. Boxing training alone is so tough, one day I'll like to try it. I am an OK cyclist I feel, but I hate running, so my cardio is pretty bad.

  • Mountain biking looks good! Did it in Wales and it was excellent, but tricky.

  • Hehe.

I thought that earlier re: 29ers. Almost ranted on here... but what good would that do!

    Ha! What did he say?

  • Lots.

    In his dreary voice.

But I think the best was (to paraphrase one of his ramblings): "A 29er for me is like a 26 inch for one of these girls.".

As if your physical size dictates the size of the bike you'd ride, and it's nothing to do with the course, handling, etc.

Why are these girls riding 29ers then Chris? Eh? Twattock.

  • MD - I am based in Paris, distance running gives me achilles pain, so I do sprints and I jump rope instead, oh for sure boxers lift their chins and thats how they get knocked out

  • Lots.

Brilliant! About 90% of them were on 29ers as are the men.

  • Ah, but the men are taller, no?

  • Well done to the British girls in the rowing! A dominant display for the first gold medal.

    not worthy....

  • Watching the women's volleyball final, one of the members of the US team is actually called Destinee Hooker! I'm guessing that her parents did not have very high expectations for her, or a dictionary.

  • Wow - The cheer for Mo Farah just now!

  • ^ Are you there?

  • He's coming last.

  • This Race is Like everyone against Cav

  • You beauty!

  • He is just amazing.
