  • I see it, and I see it in search results.

I believe you aren't seeing it as you have a cached search result. In the top right hand corner it should tell you how fresh the search result is if it's old. "generated 1 minute(s) ago" is what I see right now for me.

Search results are cached per user, because ignore rules are applied at a user level. So just because you've got it cached doesn't mean others do.

  • Generated 19 minutes ago. Lazy computer. Thanks.

  • Now where do I buy the forum a beer? Oh yeah, that 'donate' button up there...

  • Are the old 'londonfgss' links meant to automatically resolve into the corresponding 'lfgss' links?

It didn't seem to work just now when I tried these in this old post:

Searching for Sargent (not titles but posts) only brings up one page of search results, and this is the thread you're looking for:

    http://www.londonfgss.com/thread9641.html

This doesn't have 'Sargent' in the title because when it was started, the shop wasn't called 'Sargent & co.' yet.

    The original thread was here:

    http://www.londonfgss.com/thread7633.html

That thread doesn't come up because it only has the web-site address in it, and because Rob initially couldn't decide on a name for the shop. But it's linked to from the previous one, which isn't very long.

Sorry if it comes across as unwelcoming, but it is a general experience of using the forum that proliferation of duplicate, triplicate, etc. threads creates confusion and a lot of additional work. That's why it's usually good policy to use the search, and if it doesn't throw up the result you want, to ask in an existing related thread whether a thread already exists before starting a new one. GA2G also keeps good lists of just about everything, so the 'definitive list of lists' thread is a good starting-point.

    Hope this helps!

  • When quoting a post in a reply I'm getting this message below the reply box:

You have selected 1 post that is not part of this thread. Quote this post as well, or deselect this post

It's linked to Oliver's previous post as I hit quote to submit this reply, deleted the quoted text and copied and pasted the error message.

  • That's a fairly normal thing to happen, I think--I get it when I have another tab open with a thread in which I multi-added a post without having posted in that thread yet.

  • I'm still getting the warning despite only having one session of the forum open. Perhaps I multi added something but never used it. Maybe I need to clear cookies???

  • Yeah, clear cookies.

  • Done and problem solved.

  • images not always showing, there is a dolan meme i posted that i cannot see now

    https://www.lfgss.com/post2901000-33596.html

  • Nothing to do with LFGSS.

  • In the drop down menu I only get one result for each button, eg.

    Posts > Mark All Read
    Forums > Mechanics
    Classifieds > Rules
    ...

I've cleared cookies and the cache, running Chrome on OS 10.7.3

  • Wow... just the last thing on each.

Could you go here and hit submit or whatever it asks you to do... so that I can see the details of what you're running:

    http://supportdetails.com/?recipient=david@buro9.com

  • And part of me wonders whether you have an extension that is interfering, but I can't imagine what it would be doing.

  • Done,

I don't have any extensions running and to my knowledge haven't updated anything

  • You're on a dev channel version of Chrome that won't be stable for another 3 months.

I can't fix it as I don't know whether the bug is with me, or with Chrome.

Can you try a stable browser? Either a current Chrome, or Safari of Firefox.

  • I'm on Chrome (18) too btw... and don't see that issue.

  • All fixed, thanks DK

I'm not sure why I had that version installed but I've gone to 19 and it's all working fine.

  • hm, supportdetails.com is kinda neat, but it doesn't seem to know whether you're IPv4 or v6 and I guess it can't tell you if you're accessing LFGSS via SSL or not.

  • Logo has been changed to black as Object alerted me to a London fatality: http://www.lfgss.com/thread88491.html

  • Thanks Velocio.

  • ~~What's happened to the quick reply box, it seems to have disappeared for me?

Using an iPhone, but not using the mobile version of the site.~~

    Ignore me found it.

  • lots of timeout errors occurring for me, anyone else?

  • ^ Yesterday yeah

  • Some changes have been made to the spam filter.

Any post with more than 20 images will now go into the spam queue.

There are some keywords that will always trigger that a post is marked as spam. Some of these are obvious and guessable, others less so. The list of keywords has been extended and some changes made as to how the filter now functions. The side effect of this is that I think it may trap a few more false positives than usual whilst the statistical product used by the Bayesian filter re-learns what is and isn't spam.

Anyhow... any content that appears to vanish once you post it... it's probably in the spam queue and I'll try and get to it within a day or so at worst (I'm usually quicker).
