But that would mean subscribing to everything because this is LFGSS and everyone on two wheels is a friend.

Subtle bug... when I enabled HSTS, and people used https:// the "Go Advanced" button would produce a blank page.
I've stopped my HSTS testing, so things should go back to normal.
However, HSTS is actually a client instruction, so your browser may remember the settings (and continue to show a blank page) for up to 24 hours.

Yeah it's not just Go Advanced, I can't post at all on https.

• #2580
I just switched to http but now it's showing as https but allowing me to post.

• #2584
not sure if this was mentioned as i am not very technical. but whenever i load up a page (eg. clicking on a bold link) and usually i would go to the last post i read. and then all the other posts would have a yellow page thing. but now it goes to the last post i read and then jumps to the top of the page. is this me or...?

I get this on threads full of images, it jumps to the right place before the images are loaded, then doesn't scroll to where the right place has moved...

Is there a reason miscellaneous/meaningless does not show up on the drop-down bit on the top bar? Subtle discouragement?
-
• #2587
You can still access it, and others not included on the drop-down, via the 'Forum Jump' tab at the bottom right.
UPDATE vb_user
SET options = options &~ 16 &~ 4096 &~ 2097152
WHERE email IN ('')
Just needed a place to put that. In here seems like a good one.
To find it later: Unsubscribe email from everything.

Just to let people know, embedded videos and maps and stuff is being turned off overnight whilst I make some changes.
You may notice them start to vanish across the site.
After I've made the changes, I'll add them back.`

^ is that backwards apostrophe thing the typed equivalent of crossing your fingers behind your back?
-

It should be.
In another browser window: "About 2618 pages left"... every 10 seconds it changes 100 posts as it goes through correcting things.
Should take another 18 hours from now (6:30am).

I keep getting broken ebay links where the visible text is correct but the link opens to http://www.lfgss.com/$rightlink
' ' where there should be " "?
-
• #2593
That is definitely a bug.
I shall work on that this mornign.
-
• #2594
That should be fixed now.
The link should've worked, but the link that was displayed was incorrect whenever the page being linked to wasn't an item page.

This actually took several days.
I had to go through every post to date and strip some codes, and insert some new ones. It got harder the farther back in time I went as that's when links to some very old sites would catch me out.
Still... done... affiliate links should now be better than ever (break far less), and it should now be much quicker for me to fix things that go wrong.

Sometimes when a post is quoted, normally from a couple of pages back, it doesn't really sit with what is currently being discussed in the thread, occasionally I want to see what is being referred to to get the context of the conversation which means that I have to scroll through a number of pages. This isn't really a big issue but it would be made easier if there was a way of identifying the number of the post that has been quoted (and the thread if it has been cross posted from another thread). Would it be possible to do something like this?
-
• #2597
Try clicking the little black triangle next to s/he whom is quoted, should take you to the relevant point in the thread.
-
• #2598
Oh yeah! facepalm
-
• #2599
Yeah. I never spotted that until David told me. It would be better if the whole sentence linked back, but that might not be too easy.

I've posted a For Sale thread (http://www.lfgss.com/thread85918.html) for some wheels.
When I go to the main page of the site through lfgss.com and click on Classifieds & Shopping, my listing appears among all the others. But when I use the 'Quick Find: For Sale' link, it doesn't show in the listing.
Am I missing something?
Yeah, that would be a good idea :)
