OK, I'm pretty sure the AAAA thing isn't working for me (using Chrome, Windows 7). I try clicking on the different font sizes, but the page just flashes a little bit and the font stays the same. I can change the size using the spannery thing in the corner I know, but only to 90% which is a bit big. I've tried clicking the smallest/biggest A then force ctrl + f5 but still nothing.
I know nothing about computers, so I assume I'm just doing something wrong here, anyone?

I have Win7 and Chrome... give me a moment to fire it up and try it out.

I'm using the same, and they work for me.

I use Win7 and Opera but keep Chrome open for Google stuff and have just tried it and it works but is now so small I can't read it.

Yup, can also confirm... Win7 + Chrome... the font resizer works just fine.
Also, how do you know what the size should be? Well, however large the font is in the browser address bar is how big the font in the web page should be.
It may be your preference to smoosh it smaller, but actually that's the readable size.

Interesting, on the biggest A Chrome is smaller than Opera.
Opera > Chrome

In Lynx it all looks just fine.

Whatever happened to Lynx? Are you using him as an operating system? That's good forum recycling.

Having been introduced to the marvel that is ctrl + scroll, I have zoomed in and out but have no idea what the default setting is for this site. Ctrl + F5 does not reset the zoom level. Any hints???

What browser?

Firefox

CTRL+0 should reset the size.
Then click the biggest A out of the four on the top right.
And you'll be at the default.

Just done a quick test on my iPad, everything seems to be working fine (including text size) on Safari, Mercury and Dolphin (all iOS browsers). Let me know if there is anything specific you like me to test.

It has.
Just force refresh, clear cache, and if it's still ugly stop using Comic Sans as the default font in your browser.
hippy uses Colossus Fat Extra Bold 24hr.

Still not working, no idea why but I don't really care, I can manage, as long as it's just me and nothing serious.

Thanks David.
I really should learn some of these shortcuts...

I only found it by looking under View > Zoom on the Firefox menu. The shortcut is written next to it.

Clive, don't get distracted while you racing on the other thread...

Marco, you are taking your time giving me plenty to experiment with browsers. Indeed you are so slow I'm tempted to use IE

I do apologise.
