awesome thanks

If you want to do a group buy on the bearings, I'll take a couple as my Rocs are probably due for an overhaul (4yrs and not a drop of grease).

I really like the look of the S-Track pedals, anyone used them?
They look just like the time atac system's mechanics with a different shape. and you can add on extras. Same price point too. Hmmm... undecided no real user feedback yet.

Hi. I currently use shimano mtb pedals and cleats. I want to make the move to atac...
I am a little stuck...
Aliums... http://www.wiggle.co.uk/time-atac-alium-mtb-pedals/
Roc XC2... http://www.wiggle.co.uk/time-roc-atac-xc2-pedals/
Or Roc XC2 Cross Country??? http://www.wiggle.co.uk/time-xc2-cross-country-clip-in-pedal/?referid=affwin&utm_source=affiliate-window&utm_medium=affiliates&utm_campaign=http://www.lfgss.comThe last one can only use an allen key to be installed so maybe not that one, but thought I'd throw it in the mix...
So I prefer the look of the aliums but I am not sure if the XC2 is an "upgrade" or not? Happy to pay £5 more if it is better...
Any advice?

I use Roc XC2 and love them, still have to use an Allen key to attach to the crank arm though, I think all Time pedals do.
I've just ordered some Aliums for my beater too so I'll be able to tell you if there is any real difference once they arrive.

^you can use a 15mm spanner too
ROC XC2 (or XS) also have 3-step tension adjustment.

Aliums have been made for a while and used to be very good for entry-level, but over the last few years the springs have been failing/snapping.
Roc were similar (not sure if the springs failed too), although the metal decorative plates would come off from time-to-time.
The XC2 to XC12 are the repositioned/rebranded models, the old names are discontinued, I've no idea if much has changed.
I bought some XC2s for my Dad recently (XC2 are not adjustable) and they look sound enough, time will tell if they are better than the Aliums (which I now avoid like the plague after having two pairs fail).
I tend to use equivalent of XC8+ on my bikes (which used to be called XS, etc) as the tension is adjustable, they're marginally lighter and the springs are the super solid square type.

Hi Denis,
The alium and the XC2 both have the 2 flat edges on the end of the axle so you can use a pedal spanner (15mm spanner) to install them as well as a 8mm allen key.

Cheers Jono,
Judging by what people are using it looks like the XC2 is the more popular.

Same with Roc really, but there used to be very little difference between Alium and Roc apart from the body shape, which still seems to be the case now (with Alium and XC2).

ahh maybe I just used the allen key and failed to notice the flat edges, either way they were pretty easy to attach.
Kinda bummed out by the news that Aliums fail a lot, I'll be paranoid using them now.

So not too fussed bout weight really.
XC2 or Alium. I gotta choose haha.Probably go for the XC2 but I want the Alium cos I want black ha.

ATAC s are good, at least I loved mine, had a pair of the grey plasic/composite ones for years, fed them with chain oil to keep them going! Nice positive feel on the cleats, I use crank bros now, similar but less spring tension.

anyone know a london shop that stocks the XC6/XC8/XC12's want to have a look at them especially the 6 to see if they have the tension adjustment screw as my last few pairs of secondhand aliums have had the retaining spring go lose on me, so hoping to upgrade, but just want to check those models.
Went into Fitzrovia, but they only had the road pedals, and was a bit loathe to ask them to order some in just for me to look at..
thanks
