look at them. are they sharp and pointy and a very thin end of the wedge? if so, change them.

I think once the little arrow on the surface is no longer visible, that's your cue, although in practice they can go a lot longer than that. I get about a year out of mine. If you're unclipping unintentionally, definitely change them ASAP.
Careful on the new ones for a week or two, they'll feel pretty sticky until they've worn in a bit...

I reckon for those with brakelessness installed on their bicycle, hoefla's solution is sound.

very good, I'll take a look at it today

How often do you change your cleat?

And it jolly well hurts.
10 stitches on a gash which exposed a chipped elbow and monstrously bruised buttocks.
Luckily the bus that was behind me as I spun out of control was far enough behind to see me and stop.
Thanks to the pedestrians who helped me off the road.
I cycled the mile or so home, dripping blood all the way and then my wife kindly drove me to the Whittington where they were superb.
My cycling jersey was ruined but its quality certainly saved me from further abrasions.
No cycling this weekend.

Oh look, it's time to post that photo again, the one with the new ATAC cleats vs the old ones on which I got 5th & 4th respectively in the Catford & Bec hillclimbs the week before the photo was taken. I was on fixed, and didn't unclip.
You can push the envelope massively with these things if you really want to, but as mentioned upthread, when the little arrow on the surface of the cleat has well and truly disappeared, you might wish to change them.

needle-nosed pliers.
clean, grease and tighten makes a real difference if they've been well used. -
• #560
needle nose pliers and grab onto what tho?
looks like this
-
• #561
oh. mine has 6 holes like this:
I stick the needle-noses in the holes and turn counter-clockwise. see if you can find something that fits into the two holes you have there. -
• #562
The dust cap has come off my atacs is there anywhere/anyone that has these available for me to use?
-
• #563
quite disappointed in my Roc :-/ I have no idea how this could have happened. Is it repairable?
-
• #564
How old it is?
Go back to the shop you got it from and ask them to send it back for warranty.
-
• #565
bought it online on March 2012, I'll email the store. I use it daily on my commuter but that shouldn't be a problem right?
-
• #566
It shouldn't have after 1 year and look fairly clean as if you've avoided the slightest dirt and rain possible.
-
• #567
My Aliums that look like this squeak.
Do I just need to undo the ducstcap at the end and stick some grease in there?
They've been through rain, mud, dirt, road grime, etc...
-
• #568
often it is the rubber gasket on the inside of the pedal that squeaks
-
• #569
^^ I had a pair of those that squeaked. I think I GT85ed around the rubber and whilst that's probably not the correct lubricant... it sorted it and they didn't fall to pieces.
-
• #570
^^^ i had the same, just put wet lube all over them basically...

The dust cap has come off my atacs is there anywhere/anyone that has these available for me to use?
This, and somehow, the bearing seal on the inside of the pedal has disappeared from one of mine. Anyone know where you can get these? Or is it just new pedals time?
The little black seal on the inside of the pedal next to the nut on the axle:

Dried out, cracked, split and fell off, like.

I guess that's a possibility
Stolen in Haggerston
though this is much more likely.
