  • ^^^ really? I'm telling Cav.

  • ed iz bald?!?

    Good god, you are blind.

  • "who said that?"

  • What did he say?

  • Pesky kids.

  • Had a look through threads but didn't see anything definitive
I've heard nothing but good things about Time ATACS for riding fixed and have come to the conslusion - i need to get some
but, i have no idea which ones would be best suited to fixed breakless riding
    Roc, XS, Alium etc
If anyone can shed some light it would be greatly appreciated

  • titanium atac xs

  • I've been riding brakless with the Roc Atac S pedals for about a year now, no complaints so far.

  • Aren't they all the exact same mechanism anyway? Surely it makes no difference on the road aside from weight.

  • Yeah this is true, but I definitely wouldn't go for carbon ones riding brakeless....

Also, not sure why you'd buy any other than the cheapest Atacs for riding brakeless.

  • Aliums work great for me, plus they've taken a lot of pavement scrapes and still going strong. Can't complain!

Cheapest ones don't have a tension adjuster.

  • They're all good for riding without taking a break, but one of the advantages of the 2-bolt system / mtb shoes, is the ability to walk more easily if you do take a break.

I've won races on Aliums. Tension adjustment is moot, as long as you keep your feet aligned properly.

  • but the best - surely the titanium crabon ones

  • I find the Time ATAC UTFS the best for brakless posting.

  • but the best - surely the titanium crabon ones

    You're a marketing man's dream.

    :)

  • Why would the carbon/plastic body mix be so much better than the plastic bodied ones? The body is just the pretty bit that surrounds the mechanism.

Why would the titanium axle be so much better than the steel one? The weight is negligible and the steel will take the weight of a fat fuck like me.

This is a serious question as I do not see the cost benefit gains.

  • I got Aliums last month, ride brakeless and am loving them.

  • I've been riding the carbon Rocs brakeless for around a year now, they've been awesome. No problems what-so-ever.

  • This is a serious question as I do not see the cost benefit gains.

Law of diminishing returns. Some are happy to pay for that small gain, others are not. You (and me) are in the latter.

  • I've been riding them since I bought a frame from socialamnesia which wasn't drilled.

A few brown trouser moments and one unscheduled unclipping episode in the least suitable place. I unclipped going along the Euston Road and face-planted into the back of an uncle gus.

When I examined the cleats it turns out I could've shaved with them, so I purchased some new ones.

    No hassles since then.

  • Yeah I would say the most important thing with riding breakless with atac is not the model of the pedal ( I ride xs and have had alium) , but keeping an eye on your cleats.

This and checking if the large platform on some of the atacs (I own a Roc) doesn't rub on your shoes otherwise the cleat won't sink all the way in the pedal.

He said "breakless" not "3 break"...

  • How often do you change your cleat?

I still haven't changed mine riding/walking everyday for about a year but I had 2 unclippings this past month, is it time to do it or is it something else?
