I liked that pub, it had character (although I wouldn't have chosen to sit in that garage). Good beer selection, low prices. The moose head was definitely a low, but otherwise OK interior. A bit worn, not refurbished to feel anonymous and boring.

Mmm. Beard racing. Are you growing all of it, or just the chin?
Wait. When did I become JohnH? Trust me, I find it confusing enough..
Whoah, face palm sorry about that - well now I know who you really are ;-)
Just the chin mate. There are no hard and fast rules in the world of beard racing.

Next week we will be at the Orwell. Managed by our very own JGarcia!
It does have an N postcode, which isn't that east, but it is named after an East Anglian river which is very east indeed.
Bikes inside and kebabs from the neighbouring shop, plus ale especially put on just for us.Now who can resist that?

Goddamit. I'm working on weds, was hoping you'd go somewhere shit.

Has Pinkgottimobbs Oked the stray north? I see nepotism for a fellow eastie. Were the rules checked? I call breach of the rules, so that means we ill have to drink late into the night to settle this possible rule infringement.

I've checked. It's south of the North London line. Which surely demarcates North London from actual London.
And it's on Essex Rd. Essex is east.
I think you're right about the need to settle it late into the night with many drinks though. It's the only way. Thanks to you lending me your cone spanners I have mended the (upgeared) Raleigh Chopper and it now runs like a champ, smooth and quiet and all gears working properly. Now I can add the SRF3 to the list of Sturmey Archer hubs I can service. It's a vast improvement on the AW3. No neutrals at all when the cones are properly adusted, and the pawl springs do not fly out and hide when you dismantle it. Still, neg rep to Sturmey Archer for replacing the ordinary lockring with one needing a special C spanner.
I'll not be taking it to the Orwell though. Low seat and tiny cranks do not a practical bike make. Only for short distances.

Venue change
Change of mind!
We're not going to the Orwell this week as Joe says it will be full of Spurs fans watching their shit team lose a Champions League match. So how about this week we do the Pembury, which should be guaranteed to not have any football on.There are railings outside by the smokers' bit and if it's not too packed we can take bikes inside.
Lots of fantastic real ales.

Sadly I have heard the Pembury might be changing a bit. A friend went there last weekend and they said "sorry mate, no bikes inside anymore - we're going to become more restaurant-y".
