No. 1-2% out isn't much.
-
• #2378
Indeed, thought you meant that the p2m was 4% out on top of frictional losses. If it's at 4% out total that sounds reasonable, although maybe try a new chain and pulley wheels :)
-
• #2379
Yeah 4% total. So 1-2% higher, with drive train losses at 1-2%. Doesnt really matter. Only as I did a previous map test on the neo power and this one with p2m. So needed to know difference.

Am I the only person using Rouvy? Search on here produces zero results.
First checked it out last winter when my laptop broke and there was no Android Zwift. Instead of 3D graphics it's video based, but cleverly - and mostly seamlessly - synced to your riding speed. Immediately found it much less gimmicky than Zwift and it has far better metrics for your performance, both realtime and saved on your profile.
They've recently added an augmented reality thing which renders other riders over the top of the video. It works surprisingly well but in the attempt to mimic Zwift's online functionality they've also nicked their UI style - which I really dislike - and have lost a lot of the useful on-screen info.
Also does workouts, so has the TR stuff covered as well.

Morning all, this might be of interest to some in this group.
An interview with GP Lama aka Shane Miller, talking about indoor trainers, training and of course Zwift, as well as quite a bit more. The podcast can be found anywhere you enjoy your podcasts - https://www.anygivensundaypodcast.com/subscribe

Any ideas for getting a large fan working in an area with no mains power and without spending large sums?
I've got some cheap and small portable fans in at the moment but they'll be useless when it warms up. A friend uses this, cost about £140 and runs a 100w fan for sufficient time.

Where is this torture dungeon? Surely you can run a long extension cable down there?
If you don’t have power, what are you doing for entertainment?
-
• #2384
Garage away from our flat, I have previously run a 25m cable across a communal garden from our second floor flat to charge the car (but that's gone) and not convenient.
I've been using a really old iPad mini and my phone for entertainment and Trainer Road.
Think I'm pretty set on this now, may even add a solar later on..

- Cable drive from your roller to the fan
- Two brushed motors, one as a generator, the other driving the fan.

New FTP of 261 up another 8ish percent.
Good to see progress and that the time and effort is paying off. Also struck me we’ve had it wrong, it’s not a ramp test but a step test.
-
• #2387
It should be a ramp test, but it's easier to programme a step test.
-
• #2389
I believe the discussion was in the Trainerroad thread. TR call it a 'Ramp Test'.
Conclusion: #hippyisalwaysright

• #2390
Ramp test sounds correct/better anyway. Step test sounds like something people staring at purple FitBits would be into.
-
• #2391
Coach Chad, is that you?
-
• #2392
"Chad" also sounds like someone who stares at purple FitBits... and wears baseball caps. DTM.

New FTP up to 278w from 261w.
Finally in the BC “good” zone, which somewhat counters my exuberance. -
• #2394
Congrats!
Have you been following the trainerroad plans or your own? -
• #2395
I've been very pissed off it with my Kickr Snap ... it's WAY off compared to both, a powertap and a p2m. Also seems to go into these weird resistance increase loops, where despite a rest interval the resistance keeps mounting and mounting. That thing needs to go. Tacx Neo 2 on order.
-
• #2396
What's the BC "good" zone and how many watts/kg are you at 278?
-
• #2397
Following the Trainer Road plans, sometimes I do a longer version sometimes a shorter depending on life stuff.
They have chart/ list working down from world class...
Nothing special 3.6w/kg. It’s been steady progress though. My aim is to get to 4w/kg by end of July.
Not sure how realistic that is but no harm in trying I guess. -
• #2398
Here’s the chart

Similar to me then. How long have you need at it? I started training consistently about 2 years ago. First test was 218w FTP at 82kg. Now at 280w for 75kg. Expensive hobby this. Food, new clothes because the pants fall down etc etc ...
-
• #2400
Started at about 220 around Christmas time.
I’ve stayed a fairly consistent 77 -78kgs.
Neo is supposed to be 0.5% accurate.
Have you done a slope test with a known heavy weight on the p2m?
