Not sure. I meant like proper calibrated, not zeroed.
I just get on and ride the neo.

With the Computrainer because it's a tyre unit you can calibrate it for pressure and heat differences so normally before or during the TR warmup I'll ride for 5min doing the spin-down calibrations until it stabilises. It doesn't really matter because I have my own powermeter but I like the number on TR to match as close as possible to my PM number.

He has tested the shit out of them. Direct drive turbos tend to read a few watts lower because of drive train inefficiencies.

If I had a QR Turbo Muin would i be able to use the Wahoo Kickr TA adaptor to use a TA bike on it.
it uses a standard QR axle with bushes for the frame so surely would work yes?

What about the width?
My trainers, for example, won't fit 142mm rear ends, even with TA adapters. They're not wide enough.
-
• #2357
Hadnt thought of that...
Trying to get a cheap solution for my other half but it sadly looks like a wheel off option isn't going to happen and wheel on isn't allowed as it's too noisy apparently.
Needs to smart as well as Zwift is a priority.

Too noisy for whom? I used my noisy fluid turbo in a flat but just went and spoke to the downstairs neighbours first.

The user sadly.
Personally I would put up with it but Panka says no. Wahoo Kickr Core looks good at 500 second hand just looking up reviews just now. About 200 more than i wanna spend but may be the best option.

I'd be interested to see how much quieter smart trainers are but even if it's substantial, it's not enough reason to update my setup - I'd lose PM and convenience.
Can you use sound dampening matts and close doors to reduce the noise?
-
• #2361
The user sadly.
Really? Put earplugs in or use headphones?

This is for my other half as i said personally i dont mind or even notice the noise, usually bent over the bars wonder when sweet death is going to take me, Panka however notices it and mentions it as a gripe so doesnt use my old tacx one.
SHe does however like using my Kickr and says it's much quieter. Which is great can use it whenever I am not, issue now is we would enjoy to go back to training on it at the same time for motivation/time together in a world where time together is scarce and incredibly lovely.
Wahoo Kickr core is now the huge front runner.

If that's what floats your boat :)
When we were training for Revolve I was in the bedroom on the Computrainer and the missus was in the hallway with her singlespeed on my Fluid turbo coz her new bike is TA.

Do what you can to keep smiling. Outdoor trining rides are great until one flies off on an interval and either has to wait or cycle back to regroup.
£500ish for a core on eBay aint so bad to stomach.

So, the TR Ramp Test (again) sorry!....
The last full-1min interval on my previous Ramp test (6th Dec) averaged 281w. Tested again last night and the last full-1min interval averaged 345w, yet it only increased my FTP from 254 to 259.
Does this seem right?

To be honest it seems like the first one is way off rather than the second - it's normally about 0.75 of the max 1 minute, although there may be some other calculations included.
-
• #2368
A good training diary should give you enough info to work out why a test seems good or bad. Check it.

my Neo is consistently a couple of watts lower than my quarq d zeros looking at average over a longer session (2.5-4 hours), never looked at the shorter ones, I resume this is because of losses in the drive chain between the crank and the rear hub.
I don't let it worry my pretty little head, as there's not a lot going on in there most of the time, but even less after 4 hours on the turbo...

• #2370
It was more a question that if the trainer is providing TR with the power data is it just flat line at x watts? ie. it's measuring the resistance load, not the power output of the rider?
-
• #2371
No, but the ramp is based in your current FTP. Maybe the previous one was only 281 but you were longer? The first I did lasted ages, now every time it escalates faster
-
• #2372
I think you’re right, I managed 17 full intervals previously but 16 full this time. Club TT’s will be starting next month so I might just use .95 of my 10mi power again instead of the Ramp Test as a I’ll be doing them weekly/fortnightly.
-
• #2373
New one adds up, old one doesn’t seem correct.
I personally use turbo data for training and race data for racing. I’ll estimate improvement based on training, but first few races are a benchmark for me.
-
• #2374
Was the first one the first ramp test you've done?

We were talking about accuracy of tacx neo right?
My neo is 4% lower than my P2M. Which is perhaps 2% higher than it should, unless drivetrain losses are exceptionally high, as they should be 2-3%.
One of them is out, I'd think it's the P2M over reading by 2%.
Does it have a calibration process to do every ride? How long does it take to 'warm up'?
