Mismatched wheels, death trap Miche Supertype post, nasty triple triangle, nose down saddle pushed forward suggests the bike doesn't fitharsh. its fine imo.

Im sure the vast majority of parts have failed at some point. Is it a common issue?

Mitre tester, did you bring that off the bike porn thread? I posted it there around about the same time as you.
You have to agree the frame is worthy bike porn?

That's a big chuck of metal there. I imagine they're quite heavy? (as well as ugly)

Yes, I transferred it over to the right thread,

No, I have an abiding loathing for all triple triangle frames. Any build on that frame would be anti, as would any build incorporating any Spinergy wheel.

As discussed previously, it really should be all but impossible to break a seatpost that heavy unless the design is inherently poor. Normal manufacturers put all the material as far from the axis as possible.
Claimed weight (using Italian scales) is 265g for a 27.2x270, a Thomson cut to the same length would be 211g. If you wanted to make a Thomson that heavy, you'd need to increase the wall thickness of the shaft by about 50%

The potential injury is not worth considering!

was it broken by some 17 stone chump doing stair gaps on a track bike, or was he 'just riding along' and it snapped off under the raw power of his legs?

This set is excruciating. First of all the shit bikes and the fact that they're using ^those^ rims (And Campag 50th anniversary hubs) for tricks.

Metallurgists can have their say, but to me it looks like the front member had a fatigue crack all the way through, or very nearly, before the rear member gave way under an abnormal load, albeit a loading which should have been no problem to an intact post. The combination of manufacturing process and shaping is asking for such fatigue failure. It would be churlish to blame Prolly for not checking for cracks before riding, because none of us does.

What a fucking dick, "I was doing a one-handed wheelie, hit some shit in the road / dip in the asphault and went to hold it back like I usually do." Yeah I call bullshit on that one. Besides if I said "yeah I was just down at the skate park and I snapped my carbon record post whilst throwing down some whips like I usually do". I think I would only have myself to blame for using components that clearly weren't designed for 'tricks', "yea. ive never heard of Thomson stems breaking." Maybe because they are not a product designed only for road use (apart from the road stem obviously)? The fact the a Thomson would be lighter at the same length is irrelevant because a Miche is not designed for that kind of stress, just means it's a heavy road seat post not a strong one. Would you say a set of lightweight wheels were shit and fail all the time if I broke a pair dropping down stairs, or would you say I was a fool for using a 2.5-3.5k road wheelset for doing jumps?

Indeed it is.

Doesn't look bad (for a cruiser) from the other side. Not sure about the NuVinci final drive, but the frame would suit a Gates belt primary drive as none of the tubes passes through the primary chain. The odd thing about this kind of bike is that it's actually as narrowly focussed as the big drop bikes which have been all over the porn thread, and $3000 seems a lot for something you wouldn't want to ride more than a couple of miles at a time.

Fuck me I snapped the seat stay on my bike doing hops, shit, those IRO's have poor quality control. I'd never ride one it might just snap while you're riding it. Then I could sue them.

Given the quality of the metal used on almost all Miche products is crap (and frequently referred to as being made of cheese), I don't think you need to get quite as worked up as you are about defending Miche seatposts.

And you've clearly missed the point.

There doesn't seem to be evidence of creep but of poor structural quality on the front member (ha! Member...) which means the rear member was having to take on more load than it was designed for causing total failure.
