This place seems to be filling up with the internet equivalent of the aggressive, drunk, acquaintance-of-an-acquaintance-of-a-friend who turns up to the party as it is winding down and ruins what was up until that point a pretty good night, despite no one remembering inviting them.

no, nothing to do with it being able to ride more than 5 miles...that is the last bike i would attempt to ride 5 miles on..or the fact it has mudguards, or weighs a ton, or is overrated, or looks like a piece of ugly overpriced shit, or the fact it doesnt have tassels or stupid rims. Once you reach your late 30s you will have enough disposable income to buy bikes which suit their purpose. We don't cruise on bmx "bikes", we cruise on tourers.

61" is an eminently sensible gear for that bike . indeed Paris - Brest - Paris has been done on such a gear
