Zipps, on a boardman...
Thinks: I have a perfectly serviceable set of old Zipps in my collection, but to keep Gabe happy I'd better go out and spend £1500 on a pair of WH-7850-C50-TU because they are contemporaneous with my new bike.
Oh, and Zipp 404s are stock on the Boardman Pro Carbon RP, so clearly Chris Boardman knows shit about wheel choice too.

Well then, you've got me by the short and curlies...

What's wrong with Boardman bicycle anyhow? I though they're great value for the money.

Some superb hate back there, guys... Keep it coming...

There's something about that Chris Boardman picture that makes the bike look itsy bitsy teeny weeny. Maybe it's just me?

I know what you mean TS, where's the love gone?
-

mr lunch, I know what you mean, the black V section of the Zipp made it look like a 26" wheel with big tyres.

Maybe the wide flat spokes on those old Zipp wheels make it look like one of those scale model bikes, where the spokes always look too thick?

I hadn't spotted that, but yes, it does look like a scale model. What is that in the background? some kind of big canoe?

Cut down Cinelli rams... A piece of me just died
If I saw that bike I would feel obliged to to saw the frame in half as a tribute to the rams.

I think they are double or quad sculls, although any wet-bobs here will be able to confirm.

Gabe - i don't mind either of those bikes.
The fact that those boardman carbons are only £999 new as well, right bargain. Bicycle snobbery rather than anti porn. I saw one out the other day and it looked worth twice that at least.

The problem with that Boardman is the pink tape/bottle cage combined with a green Zipp logo. Not exactly anti porn but pretty poor colour co-ordination.
-
• #11391
Fair one - I'd overlooked the bartape - and the matching bottle cages/brake calipers... would they have worked with pink zipp logos? doubt it..

the group sets on the boardmans and the rest of the components make the boardmans a right bargain. They look good too. Better than halfords last bunch of bikes...the carrera

Yeah the dismissive attitude of Boardman's is pure elitism. The name, the retailer and the fact they are very common due to Bike to work. Sad realy. That said, with pink cages and tape and those old zipps it does look rank.

Cut down Cinelli rams... A piece of me just diedI'd guess/hope that he found a set of crash damaged Rams and cut them to make use of them.
-
• #11395
The Boardman looks to be miss-sized as well, far to much seat post sticking out for a properly sized bike.
Looks like a very uncomfortable position. -

Spot on,
yellow bottom one looks like a double
top one looks like a quad-scull.
Nice boats, cost a lot more than the bike
