^Potentially. May not be enough space sticking out above the handle though. Maybe a big blob of blu-tac, but that could get messy...

A couple of notches on the shaft, with a circlip fitted could help. Or with a jeweeeeeeller's hand drill, you could make a small hole through the top of the shaft, and lock it in with a paper clip. Just a thought.

You could walk up to brick lane and go to Nude Espresso I guess....? Tends to be uber busy at the weekends but great coffee

Thanks!

If you're gonna head to brick lane, brick lane coffee between the two bagel shops does a banging coffee. Prefer it to nude, although those guys are lovely.

Accidentally got carried away on eBay in the early hours now I'm the proud owner of a Gaggia Factory 105 lever machine, oops.

This months Blank Box Coffee - blue, is very nice, got a deep toffee-y taste.
(french press, 13g bean per 250ml water, 4min brew) going to push it to 15 or 16g tomorrow -

Hah! You won't regret it, they are cracking little machines.
I found mine performed better at a slightly higher pressure than it comes set to as stock.

Condensed milk got, Vietnam pre ground cracked open, one aeropress scoop ~18g
It seemed to take an age to drip thru. 9 minutes to get to
Was about half the volume of what I'd poured in. The coffee alone is pretty rancid. Once stirred into the milk it was drinkable, reminded me of that canned coffee I discovered a few months back.
Will use the rest of the ground coffee as slug scarer and try a lighter roast next time, without condensed milk.

When we've had Vietnamese coffee at a restaurant, they put it on the table at the beginning of the main course so that it'll be ready by the time dessert comes round.
So yeah, it takes a while to filter through. -

Less filters, more coffee please.

Thinking about buying a coffee maker for my kitchen, used one of these when I was in the states and it seemed to do everything I need.. thoughts?

They work well enough. Not being plumbed in is a bit of a pain. We now have 3 in the office running at a pretty high duty cycle. The scale light comes on quite soon after a descale so I guess as with anything in London it'll need regular descaling.
Grind is selected using a twiddly knob thing under the flap, hopper holds a fair amount of beans, water reservoir holds a lot of espressos, not so great for mugfuls. The steam wand I haven't played with much.
Cleaning out the grinds from the insides is fairly easy - the grinds bin pulls out and is easy to empty and the filter/grouphead/whatever it's called unit is easy to remove and soak.
I'm amazed we haven't managed to kill one of these machines yet.

^ I don't think you could get a batter, more 'based on experience' review than that. Sounds fine for your kitchen. Personally I've given up on home espresso but if you're still satisfied with it then go for it.

Oh if you don't clean the nozzles the coffee comes out of, they get caked in hard brown gunk.
would winding an elastic band around the top of the porlex axle when the handle is fitted help any?
