I don't do laps of RP.. it's for girls, tourists and the feeble-minded.
Anyway I thought people would get tired if I posted it 30 times.

Good spot :D
i was, quite lamely, searching to see where ldnfgss came on the global 'fixed gear' search. and this was highlighted in the shopping section.

Whilst i massively appreciate the rich, aromatic taste of Douwe Egberts Gold Blend, I however no longer appreciate the flagrant over-use of it by my housemate.
It is now hidden from view, under my bed.

Hurrah! After placing my order back in the middle of May, Gaggia have finally pulled their finger(s) out and sent me my new portafilter.
I can see a naked portafilter experiment taking place this weekend - christ I'm looking forward to this...

My birthday present this year from my drinking buddy (coffee and beer (not at the same time, unless it's Meantime Coffee Beer which is well tasty)) was one of these puppies:

So good. It has a bloody timer function so I wake up to fresh coffee! And they're £35. Barginous. -

Me cutting my hands to pieces with a hacksaw, before infecting said wounds with aluminium shards from the bodge job on the portafilter, or me being sprayed with scalding hot coffee from said bodged portafilter hacksaw job?
Or both?
-
• #334
the scalding bit, I've cut myself with every sharp tool in my workshop so that's nothing new to me.

i'm on instant tonight and loving it!

Anyone want one of these? It's like one of the stove top Bialettis but when it boils it pops a valve and froths the milk too. It does actually work (I've put a tin and a half of coffee through it) but I just don't use it. They're about £40

Yours for £15 -
• #337
That's a bargain, that is. I don't need it, but I'll strongly recommend someone else snaps it up, and only take a £5 commission.
-
• #338
EDIT: Yours for £150. ;)

EDIT: £50 commission.

Crafted the naked portafilter today, and filmed it too - but having problems with the video. I've spent most of the afternoon trying to rotate it but to no avail - any tips would be helpful...
-
• #342
You can't easily rotate a video. Perhaps someone has the software.

the cappuccino's even more pretentious cousin, the macchiato?
anything other than black coffee is well de la homo.

Is that the perceived wisdom?
Well fuck that.
(However, I'm amazed at how much numbnuts will pay for hot milk e.g. a grande latte costing £1 more just for extra hot milk).
-
• #345
I was a bit disappointed that I didn't get the gloopy looking stream I've seen on other naked portafilter vids, but in spite of a bit of spurting it was strangely satisfying. I took people saying it tasted better with a pinch of salt, but there does seem to be a different texture...
Oh, and has anyone seen the tags on this thread lately?
-
• #346
I like the fact that one of the tag posters is an obvious moron.
"wannabe's"
"coffee's for cavemen"
"coffee's fashionable"
"a heathen's drink"Brilliant use of the apostrophe.
