  • Lots of Romo/Nantz talk about ‘the comeback king’ but they’re down one score and get the ball to start the 2nd half… It’s not a mountain.

  • Woof

  • KC not in the right headspace so far. That Sneed slap was a costly bit of afters. And uncharacteristic for Reid to miss the challenge on Kelce making first down.

  • Oh wow. Turning point. Finally the game opens up.

  • Christ almighty. Too much pressure.

  • Woke up to watch the 4th.
    Can’t even.

  • Never count Mahomes out

  • Was watching the itv coverage, weird to hear an English voice calling the game. Not as much detail in the play by play, but I think Maurice jones drew filled in the blanks as well. Decided watching on a big screen with uk commentary was better than an iPad screen with Nantz and Romo.

That game was so tight, so so tight, felt like for every step forward the offenses would make the defenses would just raise up and push them back two/three steps. The amount of 2nd and long, 3rd and long both offenses were put into because the defenses were so on it..
Real nail biter and mahomes doing what mahomes does. Loved the qb runs to get them into attacking positions at the end of the game, felt like they started to use mahomes in a Josh Allen kind of way and calling qb designed runs on those got to have it 3rd and 4th downs.
Got to say feel bad for the 49ers, especially their defense which did everything, everything they could to get mahomes and kelce and Pacheco off rhythm and disrupt their plans.
But the chiefs defense was wrecking even more shit left and right, and once mahomes and that offense got going and had the ball to win it in overtime, it kind of felt inevitable.
Now that chiefs front office needs to go and find mahomes some receivers, because i don’t know if kelce has another post season run like this one in him. And the other lesser receivers doing enough to get them to and win another Super Bowl might not be possible if that kelce gravity and connection with mahomes isn’t there..

  • Whatever you think about Brady or NE the Dynasty programme is really good.

  • NFL salary cap jumps up by 30+ million, good news for teams wanted to keep their free agents, KC, SF etc, who may have had to bite the bullet and let someone "really really good" go to be cap compliant. All those making free agent rankings will be pissed, as they'll have to rewrite immediately, and the dynamics of where free agents could go/ will they stay/ who can afford them, have all changed..

Athletic report by Mike Lombardi below..

The NFL’s salary cap for the 2024 season will be a record $255.4 million per team, the league said Friday, taking a massive $30.6 million leap from the 2023 number.

The increase is the largest the NFL has ever seen.

The new $255.4 million cap for 2024 is 13.6 percent larger than the 2023 cap of $224.8 million. The league also saw a big increase from 2021 ($182.5 million) to 2022 ($208.2 million), but that jump was more of a recovery following the unprecedented COVID-19-induced cap reduction of 2021.

The 2024 cap is simply the result of a prolific revenue spike — the league cited an “extraordinary increase in media revenue” for next season. And it seems to have caught many observers by surprise.

The cap-tracking website Over The Cap initially projected a salary cap of just $242 million for this season. In recent days, Pro Football Talk reported a number approaching $250 million might be possible. But $255.4 million was not on the media’s radar.

The jump is nearly equal to the salary cap 30 years ago. The cap for the 1994 season was $34.6 million.

  • This is for @Aroogah athletic football podcast looking at what the Texans should be focusing on this offseason

  • Lemme guess....

More Oline depth - at guard in particular plus depth at tackle. Depth at WR2. Line backers. Interior D-line. Another corner to pair with Stingley.

I'll have a watch later and see how close I am.

  • The players released their report card, the Chiefs scores are interesting

  • I find the lack of interest/desire to trade for Justin fields by the majority of the QB needy teams super surprising, his upside/potential is better than a lot of those that went early in silly season (looking at you Sam Darnold, Jake Locke)
And the steelers getting a running QB, who can take deep shots, to add to their running game and defensive solidity for the price they paid feels like a steal

The ringers ben solak breaks it all down here

  • YES!!!!! DIGGS!!!

We are fucking loaded for bear. I'm getting Warren-Moon-era-Oilers type feels.

    Also from Twitter @holinka

Another surprise: Round 1 receivers in the last 20yrs that have won a Super Bowl with the team that drafted them.

    1. Santonio Holmes
    2. Hakeem Nicks
    3. Demaryius Thomas
    4. Mike Evans

  • Casual reminder that progression isn’t linear, so don’t expect the same season or better from CJ.

Also, do you not think it’s strange that the Bills basically gave Diggs away? Whats wrong is what i would ask.

  • Pfft. Don't you take away my hope-ium. CJ will be just as good but they will play us differently this year and that will change how the team goes. But saying that, we should have a much more consistent run game which will counter some of that. A full season of Tank Dell will help and a healthier O-line will too. Still a bit worried about our defense, D-line depth and LB in particular.

The Diggs / Bills thing has been a challenge for a while. He wore out his welcome in Minnesota before going to Buffalo so that seems to be his thing. Some are criticising the way we restructured his contract to essentially turn it into a one year deal with us. I think that is a smart move for a talented WR who is 30 can be a complete diva. Cap space is not an issue this year (we still have some $10m left) and he won't be a long term salary cap albatross. They are pushing in the chips for this year and that is fucking exciting to see. I won't recap my 50+ years of life experience with Houston professional football teams. But it is FUCKING EXCITING TO SEE!!!

New redesigned team uniforms at the end of April. Just in time for a visit with the family in May.

  • New uniforms are fucking great!! That red helmet.....

    https://www.hs-up.com/

  • That red helmet.....

    Patrick Mahomes?

  • TV numbers good on the primaries! Font is abysmal but so are all the new Nike uniforms - have to accept that I’m unfashionable there. Quite like the red lids even if the bull horns are a bit vikings-y.

  • In other news as a Washington fan I am now sick of the draft circus and need Thursday to roll around.

  • Dunno. I think it works with the Vikings / Rams horns theme. So I am good with that. Less happy with the Gangster Font H. But I do like that blue. Amy Adams and Tits fans can stolen-valour the fuck right off.

  • I mean. If you don't take Jaden Daniels, then really. He's RGIII Part II - Athletic QB Bugaloo. Great fit.
