  • Until he dies! (see also Robert).

I just hate the polemics over something which it is so historically evident that the predictability of is fantastically slim. I heard a Jeff Legwold segment yesterday where he likened it to ice cream flavours - you can like one more but it’s trite to argue why it’s ‘better.’

You then get a whole heap of confirmation bias on the other end, and I find the whole thing a bit risible.

Excited to see who we pick through.

  • Hope is a good thing . :)

  • If they do pick Jayden then there is a legit case that the Commanders are the Portland Trailblazers of the NFL.

Never learning the lessons of the past

  • I’d say have a watch (if you haven’t already) of ben solak’s draft qb breakdowns, here’s the one he did for Jayden Daniel’s, but he’s done videos on all of the top four
    https://youtu.be/2mejUOwAEr0?si=PsXt9Asa8FUr6Zby

His order is Caleb Williams first, drake maye second, then Daniels and mccarthy in a pick ‘em after that.

  • Still my favourite WAS season in living memory….

@cornelius_blackfoot Solak and Robert Mayes have both been high on Maye throughout the process! Like I say, the signal to noise ratio is so off when really they are just 2A and 2B as prospects, and all the takes are exhausted. I’ve watched some film, I just let it wash over me at this point. I think I prefer Maye but somewhat expecting us to take Daniels. I don’t weigh Mayes regression too heavily against him, nor do I put as much stock as some seem to in a 5th year heisman campaign on an all-star team for Daniels. That said I loved watching Kliff’s offence on the rare occasion that it was humming along with Kyler Murray and JD is appealing in that he has the tools to do so much in a similar system - but Maye could have the ceiling long term. It’s all just part of the circus though isn’t it. Ask me again in week 6.

It’s interesting watching the vegas lines and trying to work out what is causing movement.

  • Personally, I’m not a fan of kliff, too many losing seasons both college and pro’s with an offensive genius who doesn’t seem to adapt to the defenses he’s seeing or make the most of the offensive talent at hand. Think he’s overrated and won’t last more than a season or two in Washington, and whoever his qb is, I don’t think they are going to get the support:coaching they’ll need to improve and survive in the league..

  • not a fan of kliff

Did laugh at Mina Kimes dragging him for ‘pretty privilege’ on her latest pod.

whoever his qb is, I don’t think they are going to get the support:coaching they’ll need to improve and survive in the league

Ask me again in week 6 also applies to the doom and gloom tysm!

Well without Snyder there you would expect better decisions.

Also. No Portland Trailblazer slander will be tolerated. They traded Drexler back to Houston to play again with Olajuwon and set up the Rockets for world titles.

  • We find out soon! Will be refreshing my phone overnight.

  • White would be so much better with circa 2013 numbers.

Anyone else massively underwhelmed by the draft this year? Humungous sense of can’t be arsed.

  • Yes. The QB discussion has been tedious. Defensive talent has no depth outside of the secondary. There are eleventy thousand receivers and any good ones will come from the 2nd and 3rd rounds.

Also no first round picks for the Texans so meh. We have two decent mid and late 2nd rounders, a late 3rd and some late 4th rounders. Plus the usual 6th / 7th rounders. So volume.

Secondary, DT and LB should be our priorities.

  • Tedious yeah, but thats always the way when you have a generational talent and two other high ranked pics.

But my god did the falcons and broncos stretch at their pics!

Bears made out like gangbusters and wash will just have to hope JD is more duarable than RG3.

As a Pats gan since ‘86 im happy we didn't get cute and just took the f’in QB.

Now we better sit him for a year and let jacoby take a beating from our awful O line.

  • generational talent

They say that every year. See: Trevor Lawrence.

I do hope Chicago do well. I have a soft spot for them after experiencing and watching that 85 Bears Team. Great city, great fans too.

The Falcons are clever and I think that is a good pick. Cousins is getting $$$ but is not their long term plan. 2 years of Kirk. Tops.

Sean Payton is now on the hook. This will determine his long term reputation. I do not like him bounty gate is unforgivable to me. The Broncos are going to suck for a while. I feel bad for the fans.

Pats are good to taking Maye. But right, don't get him killed. I'd love to see Brissett do well this year. I'd hope to see a sneaky good 8-9 Pats team to help cement Mayo in place.

  • Agree, but at the slot Penix is a major stretch imo. They had other needs with better players on the board.

    Still, plenty of picks left

  • Cousins wasn’t impressed with the pick either.

  • @Aroogah

Happy with those picks? RT looks good and seems a bit of a jack of all trades for the two secondary’s. See how those work out.

  • I am actually. I think they were trying to move up the board to get a DT with the third pick but Cincy snagged the two best available at the time.

O-Line versatility and depth is really important and a nickel and a dime corner will help round things out and give us more options in the secondary.

I remain concerned with the lack of LB depth and the interior D-line. 4 picks left on day 3 so I hope that we address some of that but I don't think that the talent pool goes that deep this year. Still plenty of cap space and plenty of free agents out there. Plus don't discount the UDFAs.

  • Also. The final tally from the Watson trade to the Browns.

In return Watson has thrown for 2000 yards, 14 TD and 9 Picks over 2 seasons.

  • Yeah despite the disappointment of Watson’s play, andrew berry has done a fine job of threading the needle of finding talent with next to no draft capital.
Know ultimately his time as browns gm will be defined by Watson’s contract and production but he and stefanski have kept them afloat and “thriving” through difficult times, and they both deserve praise for that, however you feel about Watson’s contract/employment..

  • disappointment of Watson’s play

Oh I am quite the opposite. I am thrilled by Watson's play.

Berry and Stefanski are navigating these very difficult waters with some skill. It would be good to see what they could do with a sensible owner.

  • Jamies Winston has signed with the browns.

I don’t have much input for that i will be honest.

  • He's a good guy for the QB room and has a reputation as a good egg and good for morale / mood / vibes. Can ball out if called upon and Stefanski is good enough to limit his mistake prone ways. I think that the league consensus is that it is good signing. Like I just said, Stefanski and Berry are doing a good job with what they have.
